Louis Vuitton's Tradition and DNA Reflected in the 911

The revealed models are the "Porsche 911 Reimagined by Singer - Classic," finished in Louis Vuitton's iconic colors, and the "Porsche 911 Reimagined by Singer – Classic Turbo," a convertible conceived by Women's Artistic Director Nicolas Ghesquière.

Both vehicles showcase Louis Vuitton's creations, deeply infused with the Maison's heritage and DNA.

The "Porsche 911 Reimagined by Singer - Classic," a true icon of this collaboration, features a specially designed roof rack capable of carrying trunks, surfboards, and skis, embodying the Maison's philosophy of the "Art of Travel."

The exterior color palette, including saffron and cobalt blue accents—colors used in packaging for over two decades—is complemented by interior elements that deeply echo this essence.

Central to the project is a mechanical timepiece, detachable and convertible into a desk clock, inspired by the iconic Tambour watch. The meter panel was redesigned over approximately one year to harmonize with this clock.

The interior is based on natural hues derived from VVT leather, one of the Maison's most frequently used leathers. The edges of the door handles feature the same edge-dyeing technique used on Louis Vuitton bags, with yellow stitching adding a distinctive touch.

The diamond-patterned embossing on the seats and the trim of the front trunk evokes the "Malletage" motif, symbolizing the interior of Louis Vuitton's trunks.

The seats, crafted from fine leathers selected by the Maison's master artisans, feature perforated panels adorned with Monogram flowers. Every detail, from tactile feel and light reflection to overall aesthetic, showcases savoir-faire, resulting in a meticulously calculated, exceptional cabin.

The "Porsche 911 Reimagined by Singer – Classic Turbo," conceived by Louis Vuitton's Women's Artistic Director Nicolas Ghesquière, is based on a convertible "911" equipped with a 3.8-liter twin-turbo flat-six engine.

It was custom-made to fulfill Nicolas Ghesquière's vision of "merging two distinct worlds: marine and automotive."

The body color is a refined white, reminiscent of Parisian streets, complemented by exquisite gold tones and natural leather and wood finishes. This combination elevates his sophisticated aesthetic and the spirit of Louis Vuitton.

A bespoke dashboard clock, covered in natural leather, is centrally positioned on the console. Below it, the shift lever trim features a natural leather pull-string, evoking the silhouette of the iconic Noé bag.

Behind the technical wood shell seats upholstered in leather lies a specially developed luggage compartment, tailored to the unique contours of this vehicle. This space features lacquered wood, crafted using the same techniques as the decks of luxury yachts, designed to perfectly accommodate Louis Vuitton's bespoke luggage—as well as a lightweight soft-top inspired by the marine world.

This wood paneling extends to the rear engine bay and the interior of the front trunk. Notably, the front trunk houses a bespoke trunk set composed of three cases, elegantly and functionally arranged, reflecting Louis Vuitton's heritage as a trunk maker.

Q. What kind of brand is Singer?
Founded in California in 2009, Singer operates under the philosophy of "A Relentless Pursuit of Excellence." The company has earned acclaim by collaborating with owners of classic Porsche 911s to reimagine their beloved vehicles. Their approach is defined by three guiding principles: "Beauty, Craftsmanship, and Engineering," "Respect for the world's most iconic sports car," and "A deep connection to California and its automotive culture." The company has bases in California and the UK, and this year was featured as the main attraction at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK.

Q. How did the collaboration with Louis Vuitton originate?
The collaboration began when Louis Vuitton was commissioned to create a dashboard clock for one of the cars being reimagined by Singer. According to Jean Arnault, Louis Vuitton's Director of Watchmaking, the design and creation process of the clock at "La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton," Switzerland's watchmaking hub, revealed the potential for this collaboration to expand into personalizing all functional elements of the vehicle. This evolved into a cross-disciplinary project involving the Maison's trunk makers, leather goods artisans, fashion and footwear teams, and watchmakers.

Q. What is the significance of these two "911s" for Louis Vuitton?
This marks the first time Louis Vuitton has ever produced a co-branded product. It is also considered an unprecedented endeavor for Singer. Maizen Fowzi, Chief Strategy Officer at Singer, describes the collaboration as one that has united two organizations sharing a common belief: "True luxury is defined by craftsmanship, authenticity, and an uncompromising attention to detail."
