Lamborghini World Premieres Hybrid Super Sport Model 'Sián Roadster'
On July 8, Lamborghini unveiled the Sián Roadster, a limited-edition, open-top supercar featuring a V12 engine and hybrid system, in its world premiere.
Achieves a Power-to-Weight Ratio of 1.0 kg/hp
The Sián Roadster is powered by Lamborghini's traditional V12 engine, producing a maximum output of 785 hp (577kW) at 8,500 rpm, combined with an e-motor delivering 34 hp. The total output reaches 819 hp (602kW), achieving 0-100 km/h in under 2.9 seconds and a top speed exceeding 350 km/h.
Its most distinctive feature is the innovative supercapacitor technology used in the hybrid system, offering ten times the capacity of conventional lithium batteries. This electric system, comprising the supercapacitor and e-motor, weighs just 34 kg and is mounted in the bulkhead between the cockpit and engine, ensuring perfect weight distribution. It delivers three times the power and one-third the weight of a battery of equivalent mass, enabling the Sián Roadster to achieve a power-to-weight ratio of 1.0 kg/hp.
During actual driving, the supercapacitor's ability to charge and discharge symmetrically allows drivers to experience increased torque above 130 km/h and a reduction in the torque dip typically felt during gear changes in conventional internal combustion engines.
The name 'Sián,' meaning 'flash of lightning' in the Bolognese dialect, signifies that the Sián Roadster, while inheriting the exceptional emotion and dynamic performance of Lamborghini's naturally aspirated super sports cars, also represents a step towards electrification as part of its future hybrid strategy.
The exterior features a line running diagonally from the cockpit to the rear, reminiscent of the periscope on the original Countach, along with iconic Y-shaped headlights and six hexagonal taillights. The interior can be fully customized to each owner's preferences, including color choices.
Lamborghini CEO Stefano Domenicali commented, 'The Sián Roadster embodies the Lamborghini DNA. It represents not only breathtaking design and advanced performance but also future technology. The Sián's innovative hybrid powertrain pioneers the future direction of Lamborghini super sports cars, and the open-top Sián Roadster asserts Lamborghini's commitment to pursuing the ultimate lifestyle in an era that increasingly demands electrification.' Incidentally, all 19 units have already been sold out.
