Limited Edition F-Type "Project 7" Pays Homage to the D-Type
At the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK on June 26, Jaguar unveiled the "F-Type Project 7," a roadster model paying homage to the legendary D-Type racing car. This special Jaguar is the production version of the "Project 7" announced at last year's event, a limited model of just 250 units. It is also the first production car to be built by the company's newly formed "Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations division."

Production Model of Project 7
Officially announced at the UK's Goodwood Festival of Speed, the "F-Type Project 7" isThe "Project 7" announced at last year's eventthe production version of the model. While retaining the distinctive roadster-style design, it has been converted to a two-seater. The 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine produces a maximum output of 575 ps and a maximum torque of 680 Nm. As Jaguar's fastest and most powerful production model to date, a limited run of up to 250 units will be produced.
The "Project 7" that appeared at last year's Goodwood Festival of Speed, a preview of this special Jaguar with its all-time best potential, bore a name derived from Jaguar's seven victories in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It was a one-off, single-seater sports car inspired by the legendary "D-Type" racing machine that brought three of those seven wins.
Featuring a form with a fairing extending rearward from the cockpit, carbon fiber aero parts, a leather bucket seat, a four-point harness, and a helmet holder in place of the passenger seat, the Project 7 was powered by a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine producing 550 ps and 680 Nm of torque.
The "Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations division," responsible for manufacturing, is a newly established department within Jaguar Land Rover tasked with special vehicle editions, bespoke model commissions, heritage products, and branded merchandise. It will develop and produce various high-performance production models for Jaguar and Land Rover, as well as customized versions and limited-edition special models for both brands.
For the production version of Project 7, "F-Type Project 7," this Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations division increased the output of the 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine by 25 ps and paired it with a specially tuned 8-speed Quickshift transmission and the second-generation Electronic Active Differential (EAD). This further tuning resulted in performance exceeding the one-off Project 7, with 0-100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 300 km/h (with limiter).

Numerous Enhancements for Driving Performance
The fairing behind the driver's headrest, inspired by the D-Type, and a lower front window compared to the "F-Type"F-Type", a newly designed front bumper, carbon fiber front splitter, side skirts, rear diffuser, and adjustable rear spoiler, all contribute to an all-aluminum body weighing just 1,585 kg.
Similar to the prototype Project 7, the distinctive fairing is present only on the driver's side. A carbon fiber rollover bar has been added behind the newly created passenger seat. A removable bimini top (a simple canopy) is provided for protection from rain or sun and can be stored in the 196-liter luggage compartment.
The suspension features standard 20-inch gloss black "Storm" alloy wheels fitted with front 255/35R20 and rear 295/30R20 "Pirelli P ZERO" tires. High-grip Continental "ForceContact" performance tires are also available as an option. The braking system consists of front 398mm and rear 380mm carbon-ceramic matrix (CCM) brakes with front 6-piston and rear 4-piston monobloc calipers.
This braking system includes a brake pre-fill system that applies a slight braking pressure to all calipers before the pedal is depressed, ensuring a stable pedal feel. It also features Torque Vectoring by Braking (TVbB), which works in conjunction with the advanced Electronic Active Differential (EAD) to enable exceptionally precise handling.
The suspension has been specially tuned, with custom knuckles increasing front negative camber and reinforced mounting points. The front and rear anti-roll bars are newly designed, and height-adjustable damper units are adopted for the first time. Naturally, the springs and dampers themselves have been re-rated and are custom-developed.

60 Years Since the D-Type's Debut
Jaguar's proprietary Adaptive Dynamics system continuously monitors driver inputs and vehicle behavior to control roll and pitch. It adjusts damper stiffness 500 times per second to ensure optimal stability. The Adaptive Dynamics system program is also specific to this machine.
This year marks the 60th anniversary of the legendary D-Type racing car's debut, making it a fitting anniversary year for the launch of the F-Type Project 7.
All of the maximum 250 limited production units will be hand-assembled at the technical center of the newly established "Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations division" in West Midlands, UK. Each will feature a serial number and a special plaque signed by Chief DesignerIan Callumplaced between the seats.
Incidentally, the F-Type Project 7 is available in five metallic colors: Ultra Blue, Caldera Red, British Racing Green (all with white decals), Ultimate Black, and Glacier White (with optional grey decals). Deliveries are scheduled to begin in mid-2015.
