Collaboration Goods & Menu for the Heijo Capital 1300th Anniversary
The "FIAT CAFFE in NARA" in Nara is part of a collaborative project between Fiat and the "Heijo Capital 1300th Anniversary" event, which began last year. During the limited period, the cafe will sell goods created in collaboration between Nara and Fiat, as well as joint menu items with the "FIAT CAFFE" in Aoyama. This collaboration is fitting for the 1300th anniversary of the establishment of Heijo-kyo.
To commemorate 2010, the 1300th anniversary of the founding of Heijo-kyo, the Heijo Capital 1300th Anniversary event is being held from January 1 to December 31, 2010, centered in Nara Prefecture, the birthplace of Heijo-kyo (Organized by: The Association for the Celebration of the 1300th Anniversary of the Heijo Capital's Establishment).
The Heijo Capital 1300th Anniversary event aims to "celebrate and express gratitude" for the continuous flow of Japanese history and culture, to "contemplate" Japan's past, present, and future under the theme of "Nara, the beginning of Japan," and to promote the universal significance of historical and cultural assets such as the Heijo Palace ruins. Furthermore, it seeks to foster exchange between Japan and foreign countries, and to revitalize the Kansai region through the expansion of tourism and cultural exchange.
Nara's Traditional Crafts x Italian Design
FIAT CAFFE in NARA shares the same concept as FIAT CAFFE in Aoyama, Tokyo, which also serves as an information center for Italian culture and the charms of Italy. To appeal to the people of Nara and tourists visiting for the Heijo Capital 1300th Anniversary, FIAT CAFFE in NARA will sell collaboration goods between Nara and Fiat. Fiat places a strong emphasis on building close ties and fostering rich relationships with "local communities," and this event is one such initiative.
An opening ceremony was held on Tuesday, September 14. A customized Fiat 500, featuring Nara's traditional craft "Inden-sayu" leather for its interior, is scheduled to be exhibited at the venue.
This initiative attempts to fuse Nara's numerous traditional techniques with the sensibility of Italy, Fiat's birthplace, resulting in the creation of Fiat 500 accessories and FIAT CAFFE staff uniforms. The fusion of Nara's craftsmanship with Italy's rich styling sense promises to bring forth new possibilities in Italian design.
Fiat is also providing special cooperation for the Tatsuya Ishii concert "Rinne Shuggetsu in Yakushiji," which will be held during the event period.
This event will take place on Monday, September 20, 2010, starting at 6:00 PM, at a specially constructed stage in the Great Lecture Hall of Yakushiji Temple.
