The GT Inherits the Strengths of the 12C

The newly added "12C GT Sprint" to the 12C family bridges the gap between the circuit-exclusive12C GT3and12C GT Can-Am Edition, and the road-going model "MP4-12C," now officially referred to simply as "12C."

Developed by McLaren GT, the racing car division of the McLaren Group, this circuit model inherits many of the strengths of the MP4-12C.

While the basic powertrain remains unchanged from the 12C – a 3.8-liter V8 twin-turbo engine producing a maximum output of 625 ps, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox – the car features a 40mm lower ride height, standard slick tires, and revised aerodynamics for circuit use. The Proactive Chassis Control (PCC) suspension system has also been specially tuned. Furthermore, drivers can adjust the damping performance, roll stiffness, and ESP settings to their preference.

The exterior is characterized by an aggressive front bumper, bonnet air ducts inspired by the 12C GT3, and circuit-specific carbon-ceramic disc brakes. Pirelli racing slick tires are fitted to the 19-inch OZ wheels.

The interior is equipped with racing car features such as an FIA-approved roll cage, fire suppression system, lightweight HANS-compatible seats, and a six-point harness. However, the air conditioning system has not been removed.

Optional features include a carbon fiber rear wing, front splitter, and a lightweight component set with a polycarbonate front screen.

Detailed specifications have not yet been revealed, but the car will make its public debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Deliveries of 20 units are planned within 2013, with a price of £200,000 (approximately ¥29.88 million).
