Preparations for 50th Anniversary are Complete
F1MP4-12CMP4-12C SpiderFollowing the "F1," the "P1" was first revealed at last September's Paris Motor Show as the next road model. It is a supercar with world-class specifications, pouring McLaren's circuit-honed technology into a road car without reservation.
The video released this time captures the "P1" on circuit test runs for approximately two minutes. The vehicle, codenamed "XP," is entirely camouflaged, making it difficult to discern fine details, but the design appears to be largely unchanged.
While details regarding the powertrain and other specifications have yet to be announced, beyond the power-to-weight ratio of over 600ps/t, compared to the MP4-12C's 468ps/t (2.14kg/ps), it undoubtedly possesses performance on par with a circuit machine. The footage of it accelerating with a high-pitched engine note, its large rear wing deployed, will surely heighten the anticipation of automotive fans.
McLaren plans to unveil the production model within 2013. As its 50th anniversary approaches in September, its full form is expected to be gradually revealed.
