18 New Models and All Cars to Be Hybridized

McLaren has announced its future plan, "Track 25." This Track 25 is the latest management plan, an evolution of the "Track 22" business plan announced at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, and its outline is as follows.

・Introduction of 18 new models by 2025
・All McLaren sports and supercar series to be hybridized by 2025
・Introduction of a new model in the Ultimate Series, succeeding the McLaren "P1"
・Consideration of "enhancement" technologies for a dramatic improvement in driving experience
・Entry into new markets
・Production of mid-engined sports cars and supercars to reach 6,000 units annually

For this plan, McLaren is developing a lightweight, fast-charging, high-power battery system capable of over 30 minutes of track driving on battery power alone. Additionally, the McLaren Composites Technology Centre (MCTC), a £50 million investment for the development and manufacturing of lightweight technology, will open soon.

In terms of connectivity, new benefits will be offered by wirelessly updating software such as cybersecurity features and improved tracking systems, eliminating the need for download times at dealerships as is currently the case.

Furthermore, investments in 18 new models will increase production levels by 75 percent from current levels, with production volume rising to 6,000 units annually. The company plans to expand its current network of 86 dealerships in 31 markets worldwide by entering emerging markets with rapidly growing economies, such as Russia, India, and Central and Eastern Europe, aiming to increase the number of dealerships to 100.

Mike Flewitt, CEO of McLaren Automotive, commented, "All of us at McLaren are dedicated to creating the world's finest driver's cars. The £1.2 billion Track 25 plan, covering 18 new models including the new McLaren P1, is a testament to our commitment to continuous growth, true to McLaren's DNA. While this plan outlines our direction for the seven years leading up to the mid-2020s, we must also pay tribute to the great efforts, creativity, and competitive spirit of our incredible staff, upon whom McLaren's present and future success depends."
