The Chevrolet Camaro, which celebrated its 50th anniversary since the first generation debuted in 1967, was released in its home country of America in 2015. In Japan,unveiled at the end of last yearthe sixth-generation Camaro, which had only been previewed, will finally be released in Japan.

Three models of the new Camaro will be offered in Japan. A newly developed 2.0-liter turbo engine, producing a maximum output of 202kW (279ps) and a maximum torque of 400Nm (40.8kgm), will be installed in the coupe model "Camaro LT RS" and the "Camaro Convertible." Additionally, the "Camaro SS," equipped with the most powerful 6.2-liter V8 engine in Camaro history (maximum output 339kW [461ps], maximum torque 617Nm [62.9kgm]), will also be part of the lineup. All models will be rear-wheel drive, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

The new model features Magnetic Ride Control and Driver Mode Selector for the first time, contributing to driving stability and dynamic performance.

Furthermore, the new Camaro also focuses on weight reduction. Newly developed aluminum and composite materials are used in various parts, including the instrument panel frame. The car has shed over 90kg, with the body alone being 60kg lighter and the suspension system approximately 20% lighter. Despite this, frame rigidity has been increased by 28 percent.

The body dimensions are 4,780mm in length, 1,900mm in width, and 1,340mm in height, making it 60mm shorter in length, 15mm narrower, and 40mm lower (45mm lower for the convertible) than the previous generation. The wheelbase has also been shortened by 45mm, emphasizing a wide and low styling.

Turning to the interior, which reinterprets the first-generation instrument panel in a modern way, a sophisticated atmosphere is created with touch panel controls in key areas and seats upholstered in high-quality leather. The infotainment system is equipped with the proprietary "Chevrolet MyLink" as standard, allowing for playback of music, photos, and videos.

Additionally, it features a BOSE premium audio system and supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The body colors include five options such as Red Hot and Bright Yellow. Prices are 5,162,400 yen for the LT RS, 6,026,400 yen for the Convertible, and 6,458,400 yen for the SS.
