Price Positioned Between the RWD and AWD Coupes

Launched in 2014 as the successor to theGallardowith all-wheel drive, theHuracánwas born. Now, a model that combines the joy of driving a rear-wheel-drive car with open-air motoring has been unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

The powertrain is based on the similarly rear-wheel-drive coupe model,Huracán LP580-2which features a 5.2-liter V10 engine producing a maximum output of 426 kW (580 ps) and a maximum torque of 540 Nm. Paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 319 km/h.

The exterior is accented by large air intakes at the front, which also enhance cooling performance and downforce, and a newly designed rear, creating a dynamic form, according to Lamborghini.

The roof is a soft top that can be opened or closed in 17 seconds at speeds below 50 km/h. When the roof is closed, two fins rise from the storage compartment, enhancing the sporty silhouette and also serving to suppress turbulence in the overhead space.

The "ANIMA" button on the steering wheel allows selection of driving modes, including normal driving, sporty "Sport," and "Corsa" for oversteering characteristics.

When full engine power is not required, one bank of cylinders is deactivated, temporarily shutting down five of the ten cylinders. Accelerating smoothly returns the engine to its full ten-cylinder operation.

While the price has not yet been announced, it is expected to be positioned between the rear-wheel-drive "Huracán LP580-2" (25,035,840 yen) and the all-wheel-driveHuracán LP610-4 (29,700,000 yen). Sales are scheduled to begin in January 2017.
