Around 100 Classic Cars to Cruise Through Autumn Tokyo

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Classic Car Festival in Tokyo. For this edition, a dress code has been set with the theme "Gather! 50s." Visitors wearing "scarves & sunglasses" inspired by the era will receive special benefits, including gifts and access to a special viewing area, for the first 100 attendees. Of course, admission is possible for those not adhering to the dress code.

Additionally, the customary parade will take place again this year, with approximately 100 privately entered classic cars driving from the "Jingumae Gaien Ginkgo Avenue," a scenic spot in autumn Tokyo, along Chuo Dori in Ginza. Furthermore, at the main venue, the Seikoku Kinenkan in Jingumae Gaien, a variety of programs are planned, including a special exhibition of iconic cars symbolizing their respective eras and live driving demonstrations.

This year's special exhibition, themed "Cars That Broke the Mold: The 50s & 60s – See, Hear, and Feel," will showcase six cars that represent the era from Japan, the US, and Europe.

Among them are the "Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz," a symbol of the golden age of American cars with its massive tail fins, and the "Morris Mini Minor," a representative British popular car.

From Japan, the "Datsun Fairlady SP310," which won its class in the first Japan Grand Prix, and the "Toyota 2000GT 'Speed Trial' (replica)," which set speed records in 13 categories, along with the "Bond car" familiar from the movie "You Only Live Twice," will be on display. This event offers the chance to enjoy the sight and sound of rare cars in motion.

Regarding the event, Naoaki KAGATANI, Director of the Toyota Automobile Museum, commented: "We began holding this event in Tokyo in 2007, and thanks to your support, we are celebrating our milestone 10th anniversary this year. I am deeply grateful for the encouragement we have received from so many people. I truly feel that the culture of enjoying classic cars is maturing in Japan. While 'classic' might often be perceived as merely 'old,' it is fundamentally a superlative compliment used for things that are loved across time, like art. Every car participating in the CCF is one that has been cherished through the ages. I believe that this passion for classic cars fosters a car culture, which in turn becomes a source of enrichment and excellent manufacturing. I hope that you will fully enjoy the charm of these automobiles on this day and have a truly fulfilling time."
