New Beetle Premieres on MTV!

On April 18, 2011, Volkswagen announced that it had chosen MTV, the music television channel, as the venue for the unveiling of the 21st Century Beetle, the new model in the popular Beetle series, and would jointly reveal it in three global locations: New York, Berlin, and Shanghai. A special live performance will also take place simultaneously.

Its Veil Finally Lifts

With spy shots circulating online, anticipation for the 21st Century Beetle is palpable among enthusiasts. Detailed specifications and further information have not yet been released. According to the press release, it is a "new model that blends a distinctive exterior, inheriting the Beetle's unique design, with the latest technology, promising individuality and driving pleasure to the driver." Volkswagen confidently states that "its unique style, combined with the latest technology, will be embraced by a wide range of customers."

Volkswagen and MTV Collaborate

Regarding the partnership between Volkswagen and MTV, Marketing Director Luca de Meo explained the rationale behind choosing MTV for the 21st Century Beetle's debut: "Just as MTV is an icon symbolizing music, the Beetle is an iconic symbol of automobiles."

This unveiling event, spanning Asia, Europe, and America, will feature various events tailored to each region.

In Shanghai, the reveal will take the form of a show featuring popular MTV VJs and guests. Berlin will host the event at the renowned club EWerk, with Dewaele brothers, known for their work as 2many djs and as members of the Belgian band SOULWAX, as special guests. In New York, The Black Eyed Peas will perform. They are scheduled to grace the debut of the 21st Century Beetle with a live set featuring hits from their latest album released last year. The venue will be the historic Terminal 5. The show will be streamed live at www.worldstage.mtv.com and will also be broadcast at a later date on MTV's program "MTV WORLD STAGE."
