A Bold Color Scheme, Uniquely Italian
The Fiat 500 enjoys immense popularity worldwide. This success can be attributed not only to its high fundamental performance, including driving dynamics and environmental efficiency, but also to its constant stream of innovative proposals that evoke a sense of playfulness. From its pop and abundant color options to collaborations with various brands, open-top versions, high-performance variants, and even exclusive models like the recently announced "Abarth 695 Tributo Ferrari," the lineup is remarkably diverse. Fiat consistently unveils appealing options for both car enthusiasts and the general public alike. This is perhaps a testament to its Italian heritage and Fiat's distinctive approach.
Now, a new limited edition model has arrived for the Fiat 500: the Fiat 500 Bicolore. BICOLORE is Italian for "BI-COLOR," meaning two colors. However, this is not your typical two-tone color scheme. It is boldly adorned in red and white, a combination that is sure to elicit strong opinions.
The base model for this edition is the 1.2 POP, the entry-level Fiat 500 in Japan. The exterior features a striking color split: the upper section, from around the headlights and door handles upwards, is white, while the lower section is red. The interior is also coordinated in the same color scheme.
However, the Fiat 500's practicality shines through, extending beyond its striking appearance. The familiar 1.2-liter inline four-cylinder, eight-valve engine, combined with the "Start & Stop system," achieves a significantly improved fuel economy of 19.2 km/l in the 10-15 mode test. This is Fiat's proprietary idling stop function, which automatically shuts off the engine when the vehicle comes to a halt, such as at traffic lights. The engine restarts instantly the moment the driver intends to move off, without requiring operation of the ignition switch. The transmission is the highly refined "Dualogic" 5-speed sequential transmission with AT mode.
This Fiat 500 Bicolore is available nationwide as a limited edition of 50 units, priced at 2.1 million yen.
