All 450 Units Sold Out as Planned Over 10 Years
Introduced in 2005, the Bugatti Veyron is a supercar featuring a W16 engine and four-wheel drive. It ultimately achieved a maximum output of 1,200 hp, 1,500 Nm of torque, and a 0-100 km/h acceleration of 2.5 seconds, holding the world record for the fastest production car at 431.072 km/h.
Four objectives were set for the development of the Bugatti Veyron. First, an output exceeding 1,000 hp on public roads. Second, a top speed of over 400 km/h. Third, a 0-100 km/h acceleration in under 3 seconds. The final, and most challenging, objective was to achieve these sports car-like performance levels while maintaining a comfortable ride and style suitable for 'a trip to the opera'.
To meet these requirements, the Veyron, born from overcoming various design and technical challenges, debuted in 2005 with a coupe version boasting 1,001 hp. In 2008, the open-top model,Grand Sport"Grand Sport", was added. In 2010, the "Super Sport" arrived with its maximum output increased to 1,200 hp, and in 2012, its open-top version,Grand Sport Vitesse" was introduced.
As a final flourish, it's worth remembering that from 2014, a series of limited edition models, inspired by six heroes associated with the Bugatti brand, known as the"Legend Series", were released.
And then, 10 years after its world premiere in 2015, the final 450th unit rolled off the line, exactly as originally planned. This last car, designated "Chassis Number 450", is named "La Finale" and will grace the stage at the Geneva Motor Show alongside "Chassis Number 1", which is preserved at Bugatti's atelier in Molsheim.
