Since its founding in 1961, the Parisian fragrance house diptyque has been renowned for its original scents. Its new diffuser, "LE SABLIER," takes the form of a simple hourglass, slowly releasing its fragrance drop by drop. This diffuser is the culmination of a four-year joint project with R'pure studio, known for its mastery of applied arts born from bold ideas. When inverted, the fragrance absorbed by the wick connecting the two glass ampoules gently diffuses.──A remarkably simple, yet entirely new item has been born.

This diffuser, which reinterprets an instrument said to have origins in the Middle Ages, not as a timekeeping device, but as a means to "recreate the essence of time," was created with the imagery of evoking past memories, present circumstances, and future possibilities through scent. The act of inverting the hourglass suggests turning back time, or perhaps the cyclical nature of time as it progresses in a loop, giving a sense of being able to master time itself. Within the diffuser, where the mysterious substance of time is condensed, the fragrance droplets that fade into memory precisely mark the rhythm of time.

The fragrance used is from the "34 Boulevard Saint Germain" collection, created to celebrate the brand's 50th anniversary. It is a distinctive fresh and spicy green scent, woven from notes of damp moss and blackcurrant leaves. Once inverted, the fragrance lasts for 20 minutes. The diffuser itself is said to maintain its scent for approximately three months.

In contrast to a burning candle, this hourglass-shaped diffuser repeatedly creates and dissipates fragrance. It invites a moment of quiet enjoyment, allowing one to forget the passage of time.
