The Beauty Line's Origin: A Red Manicure on the Soles of Shoes

Designer Christian Louboutin, who has achieved unprecedented success as a premier luxury shoe designer, has ventured into the world of beauty. His innate charm, playful spirit, and exquisite taste are known to all through his shoe collections. Louboutin, who has enhanced the beauty of countless women through his footwear, now introduces makeup products to Japan that "emphasize a woman's inherent beauty rather than concealing flaws."



The "red sole," now synonymous with the brand, actually began 22 years ago when a red manicure was applied to the soles of shoes. This origin story highlights the deep connection between beauty and Christian Louboutin.

The nail collection offers a luxurious, radiant finish in a single coat, with 30 colors available. The substantial glass bottles are inspired by classical balustrade designs found in European architecture from the 17th and 18th centuries, while the caps evoke the silhouette of Louboutin's highest heel, the "Ballerina Ultima." These mood-lifting nail colors, presented in four distinct lines, include the brand's iconic "Rouge Louboutin," the deep, life-infusing "The Noirs," the versatile "The Nudes" designed for all skin tones, and the charmingly bold "The Pops." Each is priced at ¥6,900 (excluding tax). Additionally, "Loubi Under Red," designed to create a red sole effect when applied to the underside of nails, and a "Nail Care Kit" comprising a primer and gloss, are also launched.



To empower women to express themselves, the lip color collection features three unique finishes across 38 shades. Louboutin, who had long dreamed of creating something focused on the lips, shares: "When a woman adorns her lips, the rest of her face seems to fade. Unconsciously, she becomes aware of her lips, and her way of speaking and her expressions change. Red lipstick speaks volumes. Therefore, applying lipstick becomes a symbol of a sophisticated woman." Like the nail colors, these products are not merely makeup tools but are conceived as objets d'art, designed to be worn by women like jewelry.

The lip colors, housed in substantial bottles reminiscent of vials containing magical elixirs and topped with gold or silver crown-shaped caps, are available in three finishes: "Silky Satin" offering a smooth, deeply pigmented color; "Velvet Matte" with a vibrant, suede-like finish; and "Sheer Voile" providing a luminous, glossy look. Each finish is available in the brand's iconic "Rouge Louboutin" shade. All are priced at ¥12,500 (excluding tax). The collection also includes a nail care kit and lip definers to perfect the lip line.

This artistic beauty line, embodying Louboutin's signature style, is now available at Hankyu Umeda Main Store, Matsuya Ginza, Christian Louboutin Aoyama, and Christian Louboutin Ginza (nail colors only), starting from Wednesday, June 1st.
