The "Ombre Contraste Notorious" compact was specially created for this show.

"The inspiration for this makeup look came from a few keywords and a sketch provided by Karl Lagerfeld," Peter Philips begins.

"The keywords were 'mineral,' 'shading,' and 'eyebrows.' Looking at the sketch of the face, the eyebrows were adorned with jewels. Therefore, the makeup focuses on the eyebrows, interpreting Karl's sketch to create straight, graphical brows emphasized with 'minerals.'"





"The eyebrows were created with embroidery in collaboration with Maison Lesage (Note: an embroidery atelier under CHANEL). Dark gray sequins and pearls formed the base, combined with various colors and types of mineral stones and crystals."

"For the overall makeup, I wanted a matte finish for the skin, so I used 'Mat Lumière' foundation. To contour the face and create dimension, I used the compact 'Ombre Contraste Notorious,' specially created for this show. After applying a slightly grayish lavender powder to the eyelids, I drew a straight line downwards along the sides of the face to define the contours. I didn't apply anything else to other areas, to draw attention to the eyebrows."

"For the nails, I chose the new shade 'Vernis Frenzy' (2012 Autumn Collection). The color coordination with the 'Notorious' compact is perfect."

Vernis #559 Frenzy is scheduled for release as a new color for Autumn 2012.
