RANCÉ

The "COLLECTION IMPÉRIALE" Series

A Fragrance Honoring the Glory of the Imperial Family

Following the French Revolution, Napoleon Bonaparte reigned over Europe as Emperor. The renowned fragrance house "RANCÉ" famously presented him with the perfume "Le Vainqueur" (meaning "The Conqueror" in French), which he cherished as the scent of victory. Now, from the "COLLECTION IMPÉRIALE," which celebrates the glory of the imperial family, two new Eau de Parfum fragrances are released: "Heroique" and "Hortense."

A Prestigious Fragrance House Born in Grasse, Southern France

The Rancé family began their perfume business in Grasse, Southern France, the birthplace of the perfume industry, in 1795. The fifth-generation perfumer, François Rancé, was favored by Napoleon I and the court, and had a career creating and presenting numerous perfumes and cosmetics. Today, Jeanne Sandra Rancé, the first female head of the family in its 400-year history, along with her successor, her son Giovanni Alexandre Maurice Rancé, supports the current RANCÉ.

A New Fragrance for the Modern Man

While the "COLLECTION IMPÉRIALE" has evolved subtly with the times, it remains a popular series that conveys the glory of the imperial family, expressed through its fragrances and packaging.

"Heroique" is a fragrance that reflects the spirit of heroes who leave their mark on history and the brilliance of success. The current head, Jeanne Sandra Rancé, states, "We have created a new fragrance for the modern man, paying homage to Napoleon's absolute genius, who was not only a great hero but also passionately pursued freedom throughout his life, while deeply loving art and perfume."

The label design expresses vitality and strength with bright colors. The fragrance opens with powerful notes of bergamot and blackcurrant, followed by a harmonious blend of jasmine and patchouli, with oriental accents of bourbon vanilla and teakwood providing a subtle touch that further enhances the fragrance's allure.

A Fragrance of Reverence for Hortense, Who Loved Spices

"Hortense" is named after Hortense de Beauharnais, the daughter from Josephine's first marriage before she wed Napoleon. In 1810, the then-head of the house, Jeanne Rancé, created a fragrance in her honor bearing her name. In 2015, Jean Sandra Rancé revived this scent for the modern era.

The fragrance opens with bright grapefruit and cardamom. The heart notes of Italian bergamot and Bulgarian rose, combined with cardamom and cinnamon, create a rich and layered complexity. The base notes of black pepper, cedarwood, mahogany, and vanilla provide a perfect balance, harmonizing the entire fragrance.
