Vol. 6 Seasonal Facial Oil
The idea of changing your skincare according to the season is hardly new. But has there ever been a brand that offers four types of beauty oil for spring, summer, autumn, and winter?
De Mamiel's Seasonal Facial Oil features a blend of botanical oils and essential oils that differs entirely with each season. Furthermore, the four types are not always available; they are produced at the appropriate time for that season, and once sold out, that year's supply is gone. You cannot buy the winter oil in the summer. It's an item that feels akin to wine or seasonal fruit.
The brand's founder, Annee de Mamiel, is a therapist with deep knowledge of Traditional Chinese Medicine, acupuncture, aromatherapy, and psychology. Many of her clients are executives, and the Seasonal Facial Oil was developed for them and their friends. Annee learned from Traditional Chinese Medicine that "to balance the body, one must be in harmony with the seasons." Through her clients, she keenly felt that the more accomplished and busy people are, the less they are aware of nature and the cycles of the seasons.
The impact of seasonal factors on the skin is immeasurable, ranging from meteorological phenomena such as changes in temperature and humidity, day length, and UV intensity, to environmental factors like pollen, air pollutants, and air conditioning levels (sometimes manifesting through emotional changes). More importantly, seasons are cyclical. Just as plants bud in spring, grow lush in summer, and bear fruit in autumn, each season is interconnected with the others.
Skincare requires not only addressing what is happening now—such as cooling down in the heat or moisturizing dry skin—but also preparing for the next season. Annee considers these factors and blends botanicals, identified from Traditional Chinese Medicine's Five Elements theory, that are necessary for the skin in each season.
Annee is also particular about the high energy of plants. She sources pure ingredients from passionate small suppliers and manufactures in small batches at De Mamiel's lab on her farm in Hertfordshire, England. Uniquely, she rests the raw materials for six months after sourcing. During this time, she plays blessings music, and finally, she places them with crystals and exposes them to the sound of singing bowls. The ingredients are blended only after their wavelengths and energy balance are brought to their most positive state.
"The skin is the last organ to receive nourishment," Annee explains. Because the skin is the outermost part of the body, it is the first to be deprived of nutrients when one is slightly unwell or stressed. Therefore, it is essential to replenish it from the outside. Moreover, there are specific types and ratios of fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals suitable for the skin in each season. Providing the right nutrients can create beautiful, firm skin, but using the wrong quality of nutrients can lead to dullness and dehydration, no matter how much is applied.
So, don't think, "Do I really need to use beauty oil in the summer?" De Mamiel's Seasonal Facial Oil is akin to a nutritional drink made with seasonal ingredients. It is packed with the nutrients your skin needs for that particular season, based on meticulous calculations.
