What Total Anti-Aging Can Achieve

— From a Lecture at Mediage Clinic (Part 1)

Recently, at Mediage Clinic, where Dr. Ryozan Saito was appointed Chief Medical Officer, a seminar was held titled “What Total Anti-Aging Can Achieve: The Forefront of Total Anti-Aging Treatment, Reflecting the World’s Leading Anti-Aging Medicine from A4M (American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine).” This report covers the event in two parts.

World-Class Total Anti-Aging Treatment

“The password to unlock the door to beauty is world-class quality.” This is the concept of Mediage Clinic.
Dr. Saito, who invites many doctors from Europe, America, and other regions to foster medical technology exchange, organized the “1st World Congress of Anti-Aging Medicine Japan” in June 2007, which was a great success (please see back issues).
By holding academic conferences with a hub-like relationship with global medical societies and introducing the world-class medical technologies of the participating doctors to the general public, the clinic embodies world-class quality and is its most distinctive feature.

The seminar was divided into four parts. First, Dr. Saito began with his presentation.

The theme was“We’ll Teach You What Total Anti-Aging Can Achieve”
Specific topics included:
• Can Anti-Aging Treat Depression? (Mental Healthcare)
• Our Diet Program Does More Than Just Weight Loss (A Marriage of Cutting-Edge Nutritional Science and Medical Devices)
• The Ultimate IV Drip, TA:ONE, Surpassing Garlic Injections

The surprise guest that day was Masafumi Suzuki, Editor-in-Chief of the men's lifestyle magazine ENGINE.
“The supplements I take daily are prescribed by Dr. Saito. I also occasionally receive TA:ONE (alpha-lipoic acid) IV drips.”

What is Anti-Aging Medicine?

Now, we would like to share a small part of Dr. Saito’s presentation.

“Humans live their lives maintaining their sense of self until they pass away. Anti-aging medicine, I believe, is the scientific understanding and management of this mechanism, in other words, scientifically managing the acquisition of a healthy body and mind to live life.”

Traditional medicine, for example, might address high blood pressure. If someone has high blood pressure, they are at higher risk of death, so the approach is to lower their blood pressure. Treatment is administered, blood pressure is lowered, and that’s the end of it. But has lowering blood pressure actually led to a longer life or prevented future illnesses? While it may reduce risks like stroke, medications are not developed with a focus on overall mortality rates.

We often hear unfortunate stories of medicine where a disease like cancer is cured, but the patient dies. So, what should we do moving forward? Instead of choosing treatments based on statistically proven efficacy for specific diseases, perhaps we should select treatments that ultimately lead to a longer life.”

Can Anti-Aging Treat Depression?

“The neurotransmittersserotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine. The depletion of these three is said to be one of the causes of depression.the cause of depressionTherefore, medications are used to forcibly increase these levels in depression treatment. But wait a minute. These three neurotransmitters are naturally optimized through the action ofprotein as a raw material, along with B vitamins, zinc, iron, and magnesium. In other words, the depletion of neurotransmitters indicates a deficiency in thesenutrients. So, the solution is simple: to increase them, we need to supply sufficient amounts of these nutrients.

I once saw a TV segment about a systems engineer who developed depression due to overwork, became unable to go to work, and was confined to his home. While taking a handful of medications, he was seen waking up in the middle of the night to eat instant ramen and bean sprouts. It’s impossible to get enough nutrients for normal metabolism from instant ramen and bean sprouts.
First, it’sprotein.By consuming protein, digesting it with stomach acid, and obtaining the necessary vitamins and minerals, we canoptimize neurotransmitters. This isthe first step in mental healthcare. When understood and treated as such, symptoms can improve.”

The Latter Half of the Seminar...

After Dr. Saito’s presentation,
Dr. Kunihiko Shiina, Director of Mediage Clinic, presented on “What Mediage Can Do for Women – Cutting-Edge Genetic Diagnosis and Gentle Hormone Therapy,” and Dr. Masanori Tobe of Mediage Clinic’s Plastic Surgery department spoke on “Treatments for Freckles, Wrinkles, Sagging, and Moles: Reaching the Pinnacle After 35,000 Cases.”
The seminar concluded with Dr. Saito’s live demonstration of before-and-after results for his “Saito’s ‘Facial Sculpting Hyaluronic Acid’ (Upper Eyelid Lift Using Hyaluronic Acid Injection).”

The materials provided that day included the question: “The ideal is to be a candle that burns brightly and long, and is slow to diminish. Is this possible?” The answer, as revealed through Dr. Saito’s talk, is “yes.” It’s not just about enhancing external beauty, but also about nurturing our inner selves. To live long and healthy lives, let’s re-examine our diets.

Next time, we will cover“Functional Hypoglycemia”which Dr. Saito is working on (scheduled for release on January 25th).
