<strong>Salone del Mobile 2015 | Experimental Creations</strong><br/>&lt;Material Experiments&gt;<br/>Jun Murakoshi "soup"<br/>This work is developed as a CMF experiment, based on the premise that the mold that determines the product's shape is part of the work itself, allowing for randomness that gives each piece individuality, and using simple manufacturing processes without special techniques.
<strong>Salone del Mobile 2015 | Experimental Creations</strong><br/>&lt;Material Experiments&gt;<br/>Kentaro Kudo "Weaving Porcelain"<br/>This experiment explores how adding to existing objects can change their meaning and value, beyond the inherent expression of the material itself. By weaving together the uniform mass-produced items made with molds and the unique, handcrafted pieces, it not only alters the expression of individual products but also expands the possibilities of production processes beyond mass production.
<strong>Salone del Mobile 2015 | Experimental Creations</strong><br/>&lt;Material Experiments&gt;<br/>Kaori Akiyama (STUDIO BYCOLOR) "MW:WW / More Works:With Wood"<br/>To convey that "wood is a living material," architectural hardware and accessories are developed based on the surface treatment "MW:WW." By removing the adhesive elements from the main structure of the wood and making it porous, it not only offers interesting textures but also expands possibilities for moisture absorption and sound absorption.
<strong>Salone del Mobile 2015 | Experimental Creations</strong><br/>&lt;Material Experiments&gt;<br/>Kaori Akiyama (STUDIO BYCOLOR) "STONE COMPOTE"<br/>"In Japan, 18 million tons of food waste are generated annually. Against this backdrop, we focused on the "peels" of vegetables and fruits. By stewing vegetable and fruit peels with stones and water, then thoroughly drying them, the pigments from the peels were transferred to the stones. The surface achieved a delicious-looking texture, like a sable cookie. Developed as pumice and a soap dish."

It expresses new ways of "seeing and feeling" that we hadn't noticed, through the intermingling of everyday objects.

This sawdust varies in color depending on the wood species, and its shape and size change depending on the tools and machinery used for processing. By utilizing the inherent appearance, texture, and shape of the sawdust itself, we are bringing out new charms of wood that have never been expressed before.
<strong>Salone del Mobile 2015 | Experimental Creations</strong><br/>&lt;Material Experiments&gt;<br/>Hiroshi Komiyama "Sinkmarks"<br/>The phenomenon used in this experiment, "Sinkmarks," refers to the indentations and depressions caused by material shrinkage during molding in industrial products. By intentionally creating "Sinkmarks," which are normally undesirable in mass production, we are creating new, unique expressions that cannot be achieved through either injection molding or handcrafted methods.
<strong>Salone del Mobile 2015 | Experimental Creations</strong><br/>&lt;Digital Experiments&gt;<br/>Jun Murakoshi "SO"<br/>Instead of stacking the characteristic layer lines of a 3D printer horizontally, these layer lines are applied to the surface as if they were stacked concentrically. Adding color with rubber paint, the unexpected movements created by the liquid give each piece a unique character.

<strong>Salone del Mobile 2015 | Experimental Creations</strong><br/>&lt;Digital Experiments&gt;<br/>Kaori Akiyama (STUDIO BYCOLOR) "TASTE of CELLS"<br/>The plants we eat, such as vegetables and fruits, are characterized by various surface textures, like swollen, pointed, or indented shapes. Using Grasshopper, we simulate the size and balance of cell structures, applying various plant surface textures to spoons and dyeing the spoons with the respective plants.

Or, an object like a toy." This explores the possibility of a presence that softly blends into everyday life, through the process or results of digital fabrication, which are becoming increasingly quantified and optimized.
