Art Event "100 names small art collection @ arflex shop"<br /><strong>"Sonata of Water, Adagio" by Katsura Funakoshi</strong> Born in Morioka in 1951. Sculptor. Completed graduate studies in sculpture at Tokyo University of the Arts in 1977. His works are exhibited in many museums and frequently shown at international contemporary art exhibitions. His art also appears on book covers, reaching a wide audience. His father, Yasuhiro Funakoshi, was also a prominent sculptor representing post-war Japan.

He has achieved international recognition with solo exhibitions in Seoul, Beijing, Paris, and New York. He currently works as a full-time painter in Seoul, South Korea.

Currently resides in Koganei City, Tokyo. A Person of Cultural Merit. At 35, he left teaching to become a full-time artist. He debuted as a picture book author at age 42 in 1968 with his first book, "Fushigi na E" (Fukuinkan Shoten). His watercolor paintings, characterized by muted colors and a lack of primary or vibrant hues, depict scenes with meticulous detail yet a serene atmosphere.
