In 2005, an NPO began leasing buildings in this district to provide housing for artists struggling to find affordable spaces. The influx of artists led to the opening of unique shops, transforming the area into the trendsetting district it is today.
Among the distinctive shops lining West Queen West, "BYOB Cocktail Emporium," a雑貨店 (zakka-ten, variety store) with a cocktail theme, stood out.
"BYOB Cocktail Emporium." Its pink facade is eye-catching, and the entrance is lined with VHS tapes of the Tom Cruise movie 'Cocktail'.

The coffee shop "SAM JAMES COFFEE BAR" found in West Queen West. The interior feels like it's outside the shop! Instead of tables and chairs, there are stairs, allowing customers to enjoy their coffee in their own style.
