Graduated from the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, Tokyo Institute of Technology in 1987. Studied at École d'Architecture de Belleville, Paris, 1987-88. Began activities as Atelier Bow-Wow with Momoyo Kaijima in 1992. Completed doctoral program at Tokyo Institute of Technology Graduate School in 1994. Associate Professor at the same graduate school since 2000. Visiting Professor at Harvard University Graduate School in 2003 and 2007. Visiting Professor at UCLA in 2007 and 2008. Visiting Professor at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture in 2011-2012. Visiting Professor at Kyoto Seika University in 2013.
