Car Making Beyond Boundaries
At this year's Tokyo Motor Show, Honda is exhibiting under the theme "Don't Be Boxed In." One manifestation of this is the " NSX Concept". The other is the mid-ship light sports car "S660," which has been generating buzz since its announcement. This year marks the 50th anniversary of Honda's first four-wheeled vehicle, the "T360," launched in 1963. The " S660" is the culmination of the aspirations of young engineers who wanted to create cool cars in the Honda spirit. It's being hailed as "the second coming of the Honda Beat" and is drawing attention as a kei mid-ship sports car. Development is reportedly proceeding with mass production planned for 2015.
Additionally, Honda is showcasing technologies such as the "SPORT HYBRID SH-AWD," which is also featured in the NSX, and the downsized "VTEC TURBO" engine. Other exhibits include the new crossover model "Vezel," which fuses minivan and SUV characteristics, and the latest addition to the N Series, the "N-WGN."
