The "twin up!" Makes a Surprise Debut
Volkswagen brought a number of world and Japan premieres to the show, drawing significant attention from visitors. The new "Golf Variant" is also one of today's popular models.The Golf Variant is an all-new model, completely redesigned for the first time in four years. The new model comes standard with the latest safety features, including Front Assist Plus with City Emergency Brake. Two models were displayed at the venue: the premium "Highline" and the sporty "R-Line."
Volkswagen is also showcasing a variety of eco-car models. Among them, the PHEV "XL1" has been a focus since its announcement in its home country. This two-seater model can travel 100km on just 0.9 liters of fuel and can cover 50km in EV mode. With its lightweight carbon fiber body, it reaches a surprising top speed of 160 km/h. Additionally, the EV "e-UP" and "e-Golf" are making their Japan debut.
And the surprise debut of the "twin up!". It is equipped with the same plug-in hybrid system as the XL1, achieving an impressive fuel economy of 100km per 1.1 liters. With an EV mode range of up to 50km, it's perfectly suited for daily use as an electric vehicle. Of course, high-performance models that car enthusiasts anticipate are also on display, including the "Golf R" featuring a newly developed 300ps 2.0-liter TSI engine and the 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system for superior stability, as well as the "The Beetle Racer", a revival of the legendary limited edition of The Beetle, which added to the venue's allure.
