Test Drive of the Alfa Romeo 4C | Alfa Romeo Gallery

A peculiar square building stands on the Barolo circuit. The logo and '4C' are emblazoned on its side walls, marking the venue for the presentation.
Just outside the presentation venue, we were greeted by the legendary supercar, the Alfa Romeo 'Tipo 33 Stradale' (rear), and its racing version (front).

The 4C's body dimensions are: Length 3,989 x Width 1,864 x Height 1,183 mm.
The engine hood unfortunately lacks dampers, but this is also a measure for weight reduction.
With the optional racing exhaust system, a more ferocious engine sound can be enjoyed.
The carbon frame for the headlights is optional.
The interior is not luxurious, but its balance, not being as stoic as British cars, conveys Italian flair.
All controls and meters are compactly arranged. The dashboard area is very sporty, reminiscent of a motorcycle.
The transmission is a dry 6-speed TCT (2-pedal dual-clutch system). It also features launch control.
The drive mode select switch, known as 'Alfa Romeo D.N.A.'
The driving modes include 'D' (Dynamic) for sporty driving, 'N' (Normal) for city driving, and 'A' (All Weather) for maximum safety on slippery surfaces. This time, a Race mode has been newly added.
Two cup holders.
Leather straps are used for the door handles. This is also a result of thorough weight reduction.
The engine hood opener is located to the left of the driver's seat.
The trunk capacity is a mere 110 liters. It's just enough space for one carry-on sized suitcase.
The 1,750cc all-aluminum inline-4 direct-injection turbo engine is mounted midship. It produces a maximum output of 177 kW (240 ps) at 6,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 350 Nm between 2,200-4,250 rpm.
Race-inspired design for the foot pedals.
Alfa Romeo's traditional shield-shaped front grille.
The 4C's key. It appears to have the same design as recent Alfa models like the 'Mito' and 'Giulietta'.
The monocoque body is made of carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP). It uses the 'pre-preg' method with an autoclave, the strongest molding technique in the CFRP world. The monocoque body alone weighs just 65kg. The vehicle's total weight is a mere 895kg, and the crucial power-to-weight ratio is under 4kg (3.85kg in the lightest specification).
The 4C in Metallic Grey (GRIGIO BASALTO) body color.
Alfa Red (ROSSO ALFA) body color.
Pearl Red (ROSSO COMPETIZIONE) is a special body color, the same as the '8C Competizione'.
White (BIANCO), with its beautiful pure white body, is also available.
An impressive lineup of 4Cs gathered at the test drive venue.
Motor journalist Jun Nishikawa, who participated in the test drive event in Barolo, Italy.
