<strong>Keiko Toda</strong> | Actress Keiko Toda's serial feature, "Happy? Half Century." In this first installment of 2012, she looks back on the end of last year, a period so hectic with television and stage work that she couldn't help but call it "hellish days."
<strong>Keiko Toda</strong> | Last year, the Fuji TV drama series "HUNTER" began in the fall. I enjoyed new encounters while grappling with the difficult Kanazawa dialect. The team with Ryoko Yonekura, Keiko Horikuchi, and Mirei Kiritani was harmonious from the very first shoot. However, the number of scenes filmed in the studio set each day was immense... Looking back, the strongest impression is perhaps that we spent most of our time rehearsing lines together (laughs).

<strong>Keiko Toda</strong> | Rehearsals for the stage play "8 Women" began during the filming of "HUNTER." Although I was prepared, I fell ill partway through, and as expected, it became a hellish period (crying).
<strong>Keiko Toda</strong> | Praying for success before my entrance... "8 Women" is a stage play by Robert Thomas of France, published in 1961. The film starring Catherine Deneuve is famous, but it was actually filmed much later.
<strong>Keiko Toda</strong> | An Anpanman curtain in the dressing room! It even has my name on it.
<strong>Keiko Toda</strong> | My role this time is Augustine, a somewhat troublesome woman (laughs). She's a pathetic woman who constantly complains while demeaning herself. But you can't hate her. I decided to portray this troublesome, 'komatta-chan' character with a coquettish flair, even with my chronic heart condition!
<strong>Keiko Toda</strong> | Atsuko Asano, Keiko Oginome, Mariko Kaga, Mao Daichi, Maiko, Riho Makise, Nao Minamisawa. The casting, with actresses of diverse backgrounds and upbringings, was described from the start as splendid and magnificent (except for me, of course). From the first meeting to rehearsals, and even when we all appeared on "Bistro SMAP," it was always truly gorgeous! I felt like an audience member watching it all.
