Feature | OPENERS Editors' Personal Wish Lists List 01: Luxury Fashion

Reversible, no less!
When I interviewed Creative Director Stuart Vevers, he introduced me to his leatherwear, and I was astonished by its quality. I really want the one on the left in the photo! The color looks greenish because it was shot with a Lomo, but it's black. And this, believe it or not, is reversible. The reverse side is nylon and equally stylish! The leather itself is incredible. It’s the supreme quality known as “Loewe Nappa,” made from only the best 5% of leather from a single lamb, pieced together from multiple hides to create one garment! (Kotaro Hosomura)

LOEWE Leather Icons Collection Reversible Bomber Jacket ¥441,000 (Loewe Customer Information Service Tel. 03-6215-6116)
Feature | OPENERS Editors' Personal Wish Lists List 01: Luxury Fashion

A Watch That Evokes the Courage of Early Aviators
I was fascinated by aviators. Not just pilots, but the “aviators” of the era when flying was still an adventurous profession, as depicted by French writer and aviator Antoine de Saint-Exupéry in his 1931 novel "Night Flight." Though the story was complex for me as an elementary school student, I recall being captivated by the courage of the aviators—Saint-Exupéry himself—who risked their lives to fulfill their duties.

As an adult, I learned of a watch connected to him: Breguet. In the early 1900s, he favored the aircraft manufactured by the company, which also produced airplanes. The Type XX series was born from Breguet’s expertise in aircraft manufacturing (primarily instrument panels). In 2011, a year of significant societal upheaval, I feel it’s time to wear a Breguet and summon the courage of those early aviators. The latest model in the Breguet Type XX series. Its most notable feature is the high-speed chronograph movement oscillating at 72,000 vibrations per hour. (Koichi Yamaguchi)

BREGUET Breguet Type XXII ¥1,995,000 (Breguet Boutique Ginza Tel. 03-6254-7211)
Feature | OPENERS Editors' Personal Wish Lists List 01: Luxury Fashion

Give the Cylinder a Spin...
Dunhill's products are always unique, and this pen is no exception. Inspired by revolvers, the cap pulls off to reveal a cylinder-like chamber in the barrel! The chamber is marked with solid black, red, and hollow circles (representing black ink, red ink, and mechanical pencil, respectively). Rotate the cap to select your writing instrument and the tip emerges. The body, crafted from brass and clear resin, is inspired by the Crystal Palace, a former iron and glass structure in London. It’s simply beautiful. The substantial weight also adds to the revolver-like feel. (Tomoshige Kase)

dunhill Revolet ¥178,500 (Dunhill / Richemont F&A Japan Tel. 03-4335-1755)
Feature | OPENERS Editors' Personal Wish Lists List 01: Luxury Fashion

Hermès Carrés You'll Want in Every Color!?
You can tie it around your neck, casually knot it in your hair, or fasten it around your wrist or bag... Hermès Carrés offer endless styling possibilities. The special version featured here is exclusively available at the "Hermès 'Paris mon ami' Christmas Boutique," open for a limited time until December 25th at Tokyo Midtown, and on Hermes.com. They're perfect for adding an accent to any outfit! (Akiko Nakamura)

HERMÈS "Paris mon ami" Special Carré 70 ¥38,850 (Hermès / Hermès Japon Tel. 03-3569-3300)
Feature | OPENERS Editors' Personal Wish Lists List 01: Luxury Fashion

Seeking "Light of Hope" in Kobe, and a New Store
On December 3rd, CHROME HEARTS KOBE, the second store in the Kansai region after Osaka, opened in "BLOCK 30," the former site of Daimaru department store. The necklace shown here is an opening commemoration piece that can also be worn as a bracelet by wrapping it around. This year's Luminarie, which concluded on the 12th, had the theme "Luci di speranza (Light of Hope)." I want to travel to a revitalized Kobe seeking this bright light, wearing this piece. (Makoto Kajii) Photo by Emiko Hara

CHROME HEARTS CHROME HEARTS KOBE Opening Commemoration Necklace ¥18,900 each (Chrome Hearts Kobe Tel. 078-335-0739)
Feature | OPENERS Editors' Personal Wish Lists List 01: Luxury Fashion

A Dream of Diamonds Hidden in Rose Thorns
"Bois de Rose" from Dior Fine Jewelry, designed by Artistic Director Victoire de Castellane, features rose thorns as its motif. The sparkle of diamonds truly casts a special magic on women. However, many designs are simple circles or conservative prong settings. While delicate, feminine designs are also trending, they can sometimes feel overly romantic. For women who find neither of these styles quite right, "Bois de Rose" is the perfect recommendation. It possesses a distinct character without being overly assertive, offering a subtle and simple design. It allows women to effortlessly adorn themselves with the coveted sparkle of diamonds. (Mayu Fujita)

DIOR FINE JEWELRY From left: "Bois de Rose" Ring (Full Pavé) ¥210,000 [WG x Diamonds], ¥477,750 [YG x Diamonds] (Dior Fine Jewelry / Christian Dior Tel. 03-3263-2266)
Feature | OPENERS Editors' Personal Wish Lists List 01: Luxury Fashion

A Masterpiece Cherished by Dandies for Over a Century
Shaving cream and brush from Truefitt & Hill, said to be the world's oldest barbershop. True wet shaving might seem daunting, but with a little practice, you can easily create a rich lather. This lather not only softens the beard but also protects the skin by creating a barrier between it and the razor. A high-quality shaving brush not only lathers the cream beautifully but also lifts the beard hairs and removes pore-clogging dirt and excess exfoliation. The scent, starting with bergamot and leaving a subtle trace of sandalwood and musk, is a classic for men's fragrance. The satisfaction derived from an "authentic" product, unchanged since the 19th century, is immeasurable. (Fumihiko Suzuki)

TRUEFITT & HILL Wellington Super Badger Brush ¥27,300, 1805 Shaving Cream ¥2,940 (Truefitt & Hill / ISETAN I ONLINE)
Feature | OPENERS Editors' Personal Wish Lists List 01: Luxury Fashion

A Long-Held Aspiration Brand
Costume National, which garnered attention for opening "CoSTUME NATIONAL Aoyama Complex (CNAC)" in September, a cultural space blending art, design, and architecture, continues to create authentic, high-quality clothing reminiscent of traditional "Made in Italy" tailoring. This brand has long been an aspiration of mine. This 100% cashmere beanie, subtly accented with a silver plate, embodies Costume National's signature simplicity. (Shu Sugiura)

CoSTUME NATIONAL Knit Cap ¥25,200 each (Costume National / CN Japan Tel. 03-4335-7772)
Feature | OPENERS Editors' Personal Wish Lists List 01: Luxury Fashion

The Low Operability is Exactly What I Like
Keith Richards and Mick Jagger met by chance on the same train carriage, coincidentally owning the same Muddy Waters LP. Nowadays, when most people carry portable music players, such serendipitous encounters are almost unthinkable. That's precisely why I believe it's important to choose where and when you listen to music carefully. However, if I had this case with an iPod inside, I might consider listening outdoors occasionally. For someone like me who wants to listen to entire albums in order, the seemingly low operability is actually a charm. (Yusuke Osmi)

MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA iPod Leather Case ¥48,300 (Maison Martin Margiela, Tokyo Tel. 03-5725-2414)
Feature | OPENERS Editors' Personal Wish Lists List 02: Casual Fashion
Feature | OPENERS Editors' Personal Wish Lists List 02: Casual Fashion

A Wallet You'll Eagerly Open
It might be stating the obvious, but the inside is quite flashy. I can't just leave it at that (attitude problem!), so let me explain: Launer is a leather goods specialist founded in 1941. Their products are meticulously handcrafted at a factory in Walsall, near Birmingham. Incidentally, they hold a Royal Warrant from Queen Elizabeth II, a testament to their unquestionable quality. The exterior is simple black leather, but open it up and it's colorful—doesn't it just make you want to exclaim, "Oh, how cute!"? Be careful not to overspend just to show it off. (Tomoshige Kase)

LAUNER Multicolor Wallet ¥18,900 (Launer / EDIFICE Shibuya Tel. 03-3400-2932)
Feature | OPENERS Editors' Personal Wish Lists List 02: Casual Fashion

Colorful & Chunky Costume Jewelry
Looking at the Spring/Summer 2012 fashion collections, I find myself drawn to relaxed, colorful pieces, and my accessories are definitely in that mood! I want to wear bold, large pieces with a distinct '50s vibe. Costume jewelry brand Erickson Beamon also offers colorful options like these. I wish someone would gift me some (laughs). (Akiko Nakamura)

ERICKSON BEAMON Earrings ¥40,950, ¥54,600 (from left) (Erickson Beamon)
Feature | OPENERS Editors' Personal Wish Lists List 02: Casual Fashion

Supporters Should Always Be Stylish
On the second floor of "BEAMS F," I discovered these soccer ball motif cufflinks from "RT by TATEOSSIAN," the second line of the renowned cufflinks brand TATEOSSIAN. Robert Tateossian's accessories are sold in 35 countries worldwide, and these cufflinks are truly a World Cup of cufflinks! Designed during last year's South Africa tournament, the color schemes instantly recognizable to any soccer fan as representing specific countries are excellent. As a Jubilo Iwata supporter, please gift me the white and sky blue ones without hesitation. (Makoto Kajii) Photo by Hitomi Hachigatsu (fixakey)

RT by TATEOSSIAN Cufflinks ¥16,800 each (RT by TATEOSSIAN / BEAMS F Tel. 03-3470-3946)
Feature | OPENERS Editors' Personal Wish Lists List 02: Casual Fashion

A Timeless Basic!
I recently watched the 2008 film "Love My Life" on DVD, and the duffle coat worn by the lead actor, Kenichi Matsuyama, caught my eye. Inspired by its relaxed vibe, I searched for a duffle coat and found the ideal one at Scye! The slightly longer length that covers the hips, the muted blue check, and the unique sense of "relaxation" it conveys are all striking. It's made from high-quality melton wool developed in-house. This basic duffle coat, crafted by a brand renowned for its superior sewing techniques and meticulous attention to detail, is sure to be a cherished item for a lifetime! (Mayu Fujita)

Scye Super Melton Check Duffle Coat (Women's) ¥97,650
Feature | OPENERS Editors' Personal Wish Lists List 02: Casual Fashion

Tough, Simple, and Comfortable
Waterproof side-gore boots made from tumbled leather and oiled nubuck. "Dansko," meaning "Danish shoe," was founded in 1990 in Pennsylvania, USA, after extensive research based on comfortable, simple clogs from Denmark. The shoes produced by this brand, loved in professions requiring long hours of standing like restaurants and healthcare, are tough and simply designed. You can wear them anywhere, and they are so comfortable you'll want to keep walking. (Fumihiko Suzuki)

Dansko Shoes "WADE" ¥24,990 (Dansko / dansko en... Tel. 03-3486-7337)
Feature | OPENERS Editors' Personal Wish Lists List 02: Casual Fashion

A New Staple of French Casual
This tote bag is from Maison Kitsuné. Founded in Paris in 2001, this brand is less of a fashion label and more of a cultural collective with its own music label and art activities. The designer, Masaya, is Japanese and has lived in France since he was 12, so French culture heavily influences his designs. While recent menswear items hint at American traditional influences, they also exude a distinctly French charm and use of elegant materials. This tote bag embodies that appeal. Its dimensions are 40cm (width) x 37cm (height) x 18cm (depth), large enough to fit records. (Shu Sugiura)

MAISON KITSUNÉ Tote Bag ¥50,400 (Maison Kitsuné / Pred PR Tel. 03-5428-6484)
Feature | OPENERS Editors' Personal Wish Lists List 02: Casual Fashion

Inspired by "WANDERING MAN"
I've been following nonnative since their Spring/Summer 2009 season, themed "WANDERING MAN." The theme alone captivated me. Honestly, I'd love to own every item, but since this is a gift, I chose what seems like a classic scarf. It's a cashmere blend, so I have high hopes for its softness. However, I'd happily accept any item, whether it's a flannel shirt or a bag (laughs). I just love nonnative's unique, relaxed worldview that much. (Yusuke Osmi)

Nonnative Muffler ¥20,790 (Nonnative / vendor Tel. 03-6452-3072)

Feature | OPENERS Editors' Personal Wish Lists List 03: Products

A Rejuvenator Like a Hurricane
I have a problem lately: I've noticed my desire for material possessions has waned. As an editor, my job is to keep my antennae tuned to people, things, and events, armed with boundless curiosity and a voracious appetite for acquisition, and to share that with readers. Thus, perhaps due to aging, my diminishing desire for possessions is not an exaggeration to call a crisis in my profession. I'm in charge of the CAR category, and frankly, there are no cars I truly desire. It was the Ferrari 458 Italia that blew away these lingering thoughts like a hurricane. Immersed in the wailing, high-pitched roar of the V8 engine, and operating the sharp steering wheel with every fiber of my being, a flood of endorphins washes over me, leaving my mind blank. It's a bit dramatic, but it's a moment that makes you feel glad to be alive. This car, with its remarkable rejuvenating effect, costs ¥28.3 million! As the year draws to a close, I lament my inability to ever afford it... The 458 Italia, the most potent V8 Ferrari for test drives. Its 4.5-liter V8, the origin of the car's name, boasts a redline of 9,000 rpm and produces a maximum output of 570 HP. An open-top version, the 458 Spider, was also released in October. (Koichi Yamaguchi)
Feature | OPENERS Editors' Personal Wish Lists List 03: Products

Surprisingly Rare Camouflage Pattern
My 10-year-old The North Face rain gear is finally reaching its limit. Each time the crotch ripped while mushroom hunting or a hole appeared from a campfire, I've managed to patch it up with repair tape... If I'm buying new, it has to be North Face! That's why my eyes landed on this. When you look at typical outerwear shells, outdoor brands usually offer camouflage patterns, but when searching for rainwear, they're surprisingly—in fact, almost non-existent. Unlike Gore-Tex, the "Hyvent" shell material keeps the price considerably lower. (Tomoshige Kase)

THE NORTH FACE Hyvent Raintex ¥16,800 (The North Face / The North Face Standard Tel. 03-5464-2831)
Feature | OPENERS Editors' Personal Wish Lists List 03: Products

A Glamorous Fountain Pen Evoking Greta Garbo
Although I work in web media and am immersed in IT daily, I enjoy writing letters. Perhaps it's the ritualistic process: writing on beautiful stationery, sealing the envelope, and applying an initialed wax seal. This Montblanc fountain pen, the "Greta Garbo Special Edition," seems to enhance that mood. Among Montblanc's writing instruments, it features particularly glamorous curves, and the chic bi-color design is also appealing. I've been meaning to buy it for years but missed opportunities, so I would be incredibly happy to receive it (laughs). (Akiko Nakamura)

MONTBLANC Fountain Pen "Greta Garbo Special Edition" ¥100,500 (Montblanc / Montblanc GBU Japan Tel. 03-5214-4810)
Feature | OPENERS Editors' Personal Wish Lists List 03: Products

A Gem for Headphone Enthusiasts
As someone who uses their iPhone almost exclusively as an iPod, headphones are always an item of interest. My desire to listen to music with superior sound quality grows constantly. That's when I encountered these dynamic stereo headphones. This collaboration between "Ashida Sound," which has been crafting high-end headphones for musicians and engineers for about 60 years, and Idea International has resulted in these headphones. Originally designed for use in audio-visual rooms, these authentic headphones have been redesigned for personal use. They have a wonderfully retro appearance but deliver exceptional sound. (Makoto Kajii)

Dynamic Stereo Headphones ¥15,750 (Idea International Tel. 03-5446-9530)
Feature | OPENERS Editors' Personal Wish Lists List 03: Products

I Want an Armchair Just for Myself!
I want an armchair with a wide seat, where I can sit in any position, relax, or even take a nap. A designated spot in my room's corner for when I want to take a break, read a book, or listen to music. I've been searching for such a chair. BoConcept's "Monte" chair offers comfortable seating in any position and a wide selection of fabrics and leathers, which is a great plus. While gifting myself new watches or shoes is nice, visiting an interior shop offers a fresh perspective. I fell in love with this chair after actually sitting in it. (Makoto Kajii) Photo by JAMANDFIX

BoConcept Monte Chair ¥123,000~ (BoConcept Aoyama Tel. 03-5770-6565)
List 03: Products

Don't Forget the Romantic Touches!
"If you look for it, I’ve got a sneaky feeling you’ll find that love actually is all around." — The opening narration by Hugh Grant as the protagonist, David, is memorable in the 2004 film "Love Actually." This romantic comedy, set in London at Christmas, depicts the love stories of 19 individuals. Perfect for the holiday season, this story adds a romantic flair, while the main gift is a highly practical Blu-ray disc/DVD recorder. This way, you can give a gift that is sure to be useful and a guaranteed hit, without shattering the dreamlike atmosphere! We also recommend the heartwarming romantic comedy set at Christmas, "The Holiday" (2007). (Mayu Fujita)

Blu-ray Disc/DVD Recorder *Open Price (Sony / Shopping Consultation Desk 0120-777-886), Blu-ray DVD Disc "Love Actually" "The Holiday" ¥1,980 each (Geneon Universal Entertainment Customer Center Tel. 03-3513-441)
Feature | OPENERS Editors' Personal Wish Lists List 03: Products

Ignites the Inner Child: A Mouse That Transforms by Reassembling Parts
Mice designed for competitive PC gamers operate on an entirely different level than ordinary mice. The difference is as stark as that between a modern supercar and a 20-year-old compact car. Among these gaming mice, the "Cyborg R.A.T. 7" stands out with its extraordinary presence. Using the included mini hex wrench and optional parts, you can customize the size, texture, angle, and weight to your preference. Furthermore, its Transformer-like appearance, meticulous quality even on the underside, and comprehensive accompanying software... It would be a waste to reserve this solely for gamers! (Fumihiko Suzuki)

Cyborg R.A.T. 7 Gaming Mouse ¥9,980 (Tel. 0570-00-2289)
Feature | OPENERS Editors' Personal Wish Lists List 03: Products

The Long-Awaited Carl Zeiss Lens for E-Mount
Since its release in June 2010, Sony's E-mount series has become the representative of mirrorless interchangeable-lens cameras with large APS-C sensors. While the lens lineup was initially sparse, this year saw the release of a macro lens, telephoto lenses, and a prime lens from Carl Zeiss, the "E 24mm F1.8 ZA SEL24F18Z." This Carl Zeiss lens offers a wide-angle view equivalent to 36mm on a 35mm film camera, with a bright F1.8 aperture. This makes it strong in low-light conditions and capable of beautifully blurring the background. I've been using the E-mount camera "NEX-5" extensively for a year, and I desperately want this lens. (Shu Sugiura)

Lens "E 24mm F1.8 ZA SEL24F18Z" ¥93,555 (Sony 0120-55-1174)
Feature | OPENERS Editors' Personal Wish Lists List 03: Products

Who Will I Spend These Two Days With?
Jerzy Skolimowski, the Polish director often called the "Godard of Poland," gained popularity with his latest film "Essential Killing." The film generated buzz for its experimental elements, such as giving the lead actor Vincent Gallo no dialogue. However, I personally believe this director's true strength lies in his love stories. I want to spend Christmas in a room decorated with flowers, with a drink in hand, watching a movie. Therefore, although it might be a weak gift choice, I've selected a DVD. "4 Days in September" depicts the "ultimate unrequited love" of a middle-aged man for a nurse named Anna. The visuals are stunning, making it a superb cinematic work. This is my second-ranked movie to watch with a girl right now. First place is his 1967 film "Departure." Jean-Pierre Léaud's Porsche 911 in that film is incredibly cool, but it's fundamentally a coming-of-age film depicting youthful love. It's currently out of print, so I'll pass on it this time. I constantly wish for a girl who would choose movies like this to be in my life, and I feel a sense of urgency as 2011 draws to a close. (Yusuke Osmi)

"4 Days in September" ¥5,040 (Distributor | Kinokuniya Shoten)
