Making its world premiere at the BMW booth was the "ActiveHybrid 5", a hybrid model based on the 535i. This model, a significant portion of which will be produced for the Japanese market, combines a 3.0-liter inline-six DOHC twin-scroll turbo engine with direct injection, producing a maximum output of 225kW (306ps) and peak torque of 400Nm, with a 40kW (55ps), 210Nm electric motor. The system output is 250kW (340ps) and 450Nm, achieving 0-100km/h in 5.9 seconds and an average fuel consumption of 6.4-7ℓ/100km (approximately 14.2-15.6km/ℓ). It is slated for release in Japan in the spring of 2012.
Also unveiled were the concept carsi3 and i8.

It boasts 0-100km/h acceleration in under 5 seconds, while achieving fuel efficiency of 2.7ℓ/100km and CO2 emissions of 66g/km. Notably, it is equipped with laser headlights, which are brighter than LEDs and consume half the power.

Production is scheduled to begin at the end of 2013, with 0-100km/h acceleration in under 8 seconds. Charging takes 6 hours for a standard charge, and 1 hour for an 80% charge using a rapid charger.
