The creation of a single pair of J.M. Weston shoes involves approximately two months and over 150 processes. With half-size options and up to seven widths, they ensure a perfectly comfortable fit for every individual.
<strong>J.M. Weston</strong> Most J.M. Weston shoes are constructed using the Goodyear welt method, a traditional technique that stitches the upper to the insole. For optimal walking comfort, the stitching utilizes fibers treated with an anti-rot coating that expand and contract with the foot's natural movement.
<strong>J.M. Weston</strong> J.M. Weston is unique among shoemakers for owning its own tannery specializing in sole leather. Inherited from the 18th century, this tannery uses traditional vegetable tanning for sole leather, a process that spans an entire year. During this time, the raw hides are immersed in a mixture of vegetable tannins and oak gall. This distinctive process imparts unparalleled strength to the sole while preserving its natural flexibility. The leather achieves a durability comparable to wood, allowing the inner sole to be directly stitched to the sole via the Goodyear welt construction.
<strong>J.M. Weston</strong> Expert leather cutters select only the finest parts from the chosen hides for the uppers, cutting each piece by hand for every pair of shoes. These cutters meticulously align the cuts with the natural grain and subtle color variations of the leather before the upper components are sewn together, one pair at a time.
