<br>The latest coupe from Maserati, the GranTurismo, condenses the brand's allure into a beautiful body. Its high-performance variant, the GranTurismo S, was unveiled at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show.
<br>The front-engine, rear-drive GranTurismo S employs a transaxle layout, positioning the gearbox directly ahead of the rear differential to optimize weight distribution. This achieves a front-to-rear balance of 47:53.
<br>The GranTurismo S features a manual-based sequential gearbox with a dry twin-plate clutch. With Sport-MC Shift, gear changes take a mere 0.1 seconds. It also functions as a two-pedal automatic system.
<br>The braking system utilizes dual-cast front discs, co-developed with Brembo. By combining cast iron and aluminum, it achieves both heat resistance and reduced weight.
<br>The GranTurismo S is powered by a 4.7-liter V8 engine, sharing its basic structure with the engine found in the Alfa 8C Competizione. It produces a maximum output of 440 ps at 7000 rpm and peak torque of 490 Nm at 4750 rpm. Its dedicated exhaust system electronically controls two bypass valves, enabling a sporty sound when the moment calls for it.
