Elegant Yet Suitable for Everyday Wear
Three new timepieces have been released to commemorate 175 years since the inception of the Glashütte watch industry: the "Lambda Glashütte 175 Years of Watchmaking." These special models, each produced in a limited edition of 175 pieces, feature new 40.5 mm stainless steel cases, available in white, black, and blue dials, and are equipped with movements adjusted to chronometer standards. They are crafted using the traditional techniques of historic Glashütte.
The dials possess a special depth with their enamel-like sheen, further enhanced by the curved dial and sapphire crystal glass. The meticulously polished stainless steel case makes this a precise luxury watch that is also eminently wearable for daily life. The name "Lambda" is derived from the concept of "essential value" in mathematics, signifying enduring worth.
The "Lambda" features a power reserve indicator, displayed as an arc on the dial, showing the remaining spring tension for 84 hours, or 3.5 days. The four slender hands lend an air of grace to the watch, giving it the impression of a dynamic object.
The movement is the Calibre DUW1001, the first calibre to bear the DUW (Deutsche Uhrenwerke) designation. This large yet slim twin-barrel calibre is fitted with 29 jewels. Six of these are set in screwed chatons, hand-polished in the traditional Glashütte style. Similarly, the edges of all parts are hand-polished, and the steel components feature a mirror finish.
Furthermore, the meticulously finished 3/4 plate, a hallmark of Glashütte's traditional craftsmanship, exhibits remarkable beauty. This sunbeam-like finish is found exclusively in NOMOS's DUW1001 and DUW2002 (a tonneau-shaped movement) calibres. The swan neck regulator spring above the balance cock is hand-engraved by a veteran watchmaker with the inscription "Mit Liebe aus Glashütte" (With Love from Glashütte), a testament to the high level of watchmaking skill in Glashütte and the town's rich heritage.
