1960s Avant-Garde Design Reimagined: Accutron Spaceview 2020 and Accutron DNA

Marking its 60th anniversary, ACCUTRON has been reborn as a new brand, releasing two lines of the world's first electrostatic induction watches. Featuring a new electrostatic induction movement and honoring the original 1960 design, the "Accutron Spaceview 2020" and the "Accutron DNA," updated with a futuristic aesthetic, herald the brand's new debut.

Innovative Watches with a Retro-Futuristic Aura

In 1960, Bulova introduced the "Accutron," the world's first tuning-fork electronic watch. Boasting an astonishing accuracy of ±1 minute per month at the time, it achieved a leap in precision over mechanical watches. This characteristic led to its name, "ACCUTRON," a portmanteau of "Accuracy" and "Electron."
The foundational technology of the tuning-fork "Accutron" supported America's space development program, and the Accutron logo became a symbol for consumers seeking precise timekeeping. The skeletonized dials, which boldly showcased the tuning-fork movement, created an overwhelming presence and caused a sensation with their avant-garde design and ingenious mechanism.

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of Accutron's birth, and inheriting Bulova's DNA, Accutron has been reborn as a new brand in 2020.
The new "Accutron" series is equipped with a novel movement utilizing proprietary electrostatic induction "generation" and "motor" technologies, developed over a decade. Power is generated as the twin turbines rotate at high speed in sync with the wearer's movements between the electrodes of the two electrostatic induction generators visible at the 5 and 7 o'clock positions on the dial. This generated power is stored in a battery, driving the hour and minute hands, while the second hand is powered by the electrostatic induction motor located at the 10 o'clock position.
The second hand, featuring a smooth and elegant sweep motion, is a continuation of the original Accutron. Furthermore, the power-save function allows for extended use compared to conventional quartz watches, depending on usage frequency. The watch maintains high accuracy with a monthly deviation of ±5 seconds.

Accutron Spaceview 2020
The "Accutron Spaceview 2020," which follows the design of the original 1960 Accutron, is the flagship model that inherits iconic elements such as the bold skeletonized dial and the characteristic green of the movement plate. Housed within a simple case reminiscent of the original Accutron, the skeletonized dial boldly reveals the generator and motor, accented by iconic green touches, creating a model with overwhelming visual impact.
