New York's Buzzworthy Accessory Brand Makes Its Japan Debut!


The New York-based accessory brand, M.C.L BY MATTHEW CAMPBELL LAURENZA, has finally arrived in Japan. Having garnered significant attention, with celebrities often seen wearing its pieces, the brand officially launches on June 4, 2010. For the first six months following its release, it will be exclusively available atBarneys New York.

Designer Matthew Campbell Laurenza was influenced from a young age by the art and antiques collected by his family, and displayed a talent for artistic pursuits like sculpture. After studying architecture at Savannah College of Art and Design and completing his studies in Humanistic Sculpture at Bellarmine University, he traveled the world seeking inspiration. During his travels, he learned gem cutting techniques and the art of jewelry making from rough stone dealers and manufacturers, eventually merging these skills with his own exceptional design aesthetic to create the brand.



"The idea of combining an antique touch with a modern twist – that is the signature of my work," says designer Matthew.

Each piece is crafted by skilled artisans using only precious and semi-precious stones, primarily sapphires sourced from around the globe. The creation of a single item can take six to eight months, with each meticulous step enhancing the natural texture and rich luster of the materials.




Since its debut at Bergdorf Goodman in New York in 2007, the brand has rapidly gained attention for its unparalleled, distinctive style and high design quality. In just a short time, it has grown to be sold in countries worldwide, and now, this June, it finally makes its debut in Japan.

The brand makes its much-anticipated Japan debut on Friday, June 4, 2010, at the Barneys New York Ginza, Shinjuku, and Yokohama stores. On Sunday, June 20, 2010, from 2:00 PM, designer Matthew himself will appear at the Barneys New York Ginza store! Be sure to visit early to get a first look.

Matthew Campbell Laurenza
Born in the United States, Matthew Campbell Laurenza was influenced from a young age by the art and antiques collected by his family, displaying a rare talent for artistic pursuits such as sculpture. In 1998, he launched the brand "M.C.L BY MATTHEW CAMPBELL LAURENZA." Gaining recognition for its unique sensibility and high design quality, the brand quickly became a sensation after its introduction at Bergdorf Goodman in 2007, appearing in celebrity circles and fashion magazines.
