New Bridal Collection

The new bridal collection from French jewelry house MELLERIO dits MELLER is inspired by the secret love codes hidden within the letters exchanged between Georges Sand and her lover Alfred de Musset, who were also patrons of the brand. This much-anticipated collection will be available for pre-sale starting in March at Isetan Shinjuku Main Building 4F, Jewelry & Watch.

A Love Poem (Message) Heard Only by Two

Alfred de Musset, a sensitive and lyrical poet and novelist of the Romantic era, loved George Sand, a writer known as the first female novelist in French literature to gain renown and who advocated for women's rights and freedom. She, in turn, was his muse, influencing many of his works.

The couple exchanged love letters, but when read in a different way, they revealed even deeper words hidden as codes. By reading every second or third line of the multi-line letters, another message of love was concealed...

The designs for this new bridal collection draw inspiration from Romantic-era sketches found in the Mellerio dits Meller archives beneath their flagship store on Rue de la Paix in Paris. The new bridal rings carry the hidden message of lovers, "pour toi et moi" – for you, and for me.

Circular and round shapes have long been used as motifs in Mellerio's jewelry, symbolizing harmony, family bonds, and peace. Among these motifs are the fleur-de-lis, a royal emblem with the flower meanings of "purity" and "gentleness," and lily of the valley, signifying "happiness" and "pure love," expressing the lovers' purity and their hopes for happiness.
