Japan's First Real-World Game Inspired by a Mikoshi! "MIKOSHI CHALLENGE by mentos®" Event Held
The "mentos® Fresh Cola" campaign, "MIKOSHI CHALLENGE by mentos®," will be held for three days only from Friday, July 27 to Sunday, July 29, 2018, at the SHIBUYA 109 event space.
mentos® is characterized by its easy-to-eat, one-touch stick packaging, making it simple to share. By sharing mentos®, we foster "fresh connections" and create opportunities for people to become closer.
Now, mentos®, a brand that supports new connections, has planned a novel summer festival in Shibuya, a hub for young people, to offer "new encounters." This is "MIKOSHI CHALLENGE by mentos®," Japan's first real-world game inspired by a mikoshi.
Eight people who meet at the venue will carry a giant mikoshi modeled after mentos® towards the goal!?
The game challenges eight people who meet at the venue to cooperate. It's a game content that aligns with the concept of "fresh connections" (new encounters).
At the SHIBUYA 109 event space, participants will stand ready with an original, giant "mikoshi" modeled after "mentos® Fresh Cola." Participants will also wear matching original mentos® happi coats for the challenge.
The game involves raising and lowering the original giant mikoshi, measuring 2.3 meters long and modeled after "mentos® Fresh Cola," to advance. The objective is to reach the goal without dropping any of the total 100 mentos® displayed on the game screen within the 90-second time limit.
During the game, three types of obstacles will appear, including "swaying iron balls" and "giant rocks moving up and down." Teams must coordinate their movements to raise and lower the mikoshi, avoiding these obstacles.
Starting from SHIBUYA 109, the route passes through Shibuya's cityscape, including "Shibuya Koen Dori" and "Hachiko-mae," offering a realistic world experience.
Teams that successfully clear the game will receive up to 100 mentos® (the number of mentos® awarded will vary based on the remaining count at the end of the game).
