Champagne Maison Ruinart Unveils Collaboration with Artist Liu Bolin

Founded in 1729 and hailed as the "jewel of Champagne," the world's oldest Champagne House, Ruinart, is participating in KYOTOGRAPHIE, the international photography festival held annually in Kyoto each spring.

This year, as a special edition, "TOKYOGRAPHIE 2018 - KYOTOGRAPHIE SPECIAL EDITION -," a first for Tokyo, will be held at various locations across the city.

Ruinart will exhibit works from its collaboration with Liu Bolin, a contemporary artist from Beijing, China, globally renowned as "the invisible man." The exhibition will take place at BLOCK HOUSE in Shibuya from Friday, November 23 to Sunday, December 9, 2018.

In August 2017, Liu Bolin visited the Champagne region for the first time. He stayed for over ten days at Ruinart, the world's oldest Champagne House located in Reims, and created eight camouflage performance art pieces.

At this exhibition, "The Oyster Lunch," created during Liu Bolin's unveiling event in Paris, will be shown to the world for the first time.

By rendering the figures in his works invisible, Liu Bolin expresses the techniques and savoir-faire of Champagne production.

By making the presence of the actual people imperceptible, he highlights the connection between Ruinart, nature, and the individuals working behind closed doors.
