On September 4, Nespresso unveiled "Master Origin," a new series of coffees born from the bounty of five nations and masterful craftsmanship.
The "Master Origin" series, now a permanent addition to the Nespresso lineup, features five single-origin capsule coffees sourced from India, Indonesia, Colombia, Nicaragua, and Ethiopia.
Beyond the established concept of "single origin"—using beans from only one country—"Master Origin" embodies the profound skill and unique dedication of the artisans, the masters, involved in coffee production in each nation.
For this new series, Nespresso focused not only on "terroir"—the natural environment of coffee-producing countries, encompassing soil, climate, and altitude—but also on the coffee's journey from producer to cup, including the meticulous handwork and processing methods (harvesting and refinement). This approach truly embodies a more profound "craftsmanship" in coffee creation.
In Colombia, beans are harvested through a "late picking" method, deliberately delaying the harvest of ripe cherries. Indonesia's humid climate calls for the "wet-hulling" refinement process to manage bean moisture, while Nicaragua employs the "black honey process," a refinement method requiring meticulous attention and effort.
