Louis Vuitton's 2018 Cruise Collection event was held at the Miho Museum in Shiga Prefecture.

LOUIS VUITTON will host an event for its 2018 Cruise Collection at the Miho Museum in Shiga Prefecture on Sunday, May 14.

The Miho Museum, inspired by the mythical paradise of Shangri-La and conceived as a earthly utopia, opened in Shigaraki, Shiga Prefecture, in 1997.

Designed by I.M. Pei, the architect behind Paris's Grand Louvre and its glass pyramid, the main building is revealed only after traversing a grand metal tunnel and a futuristic suspension bridge.

Nestled deep within a lush forest, the museum houses a collection of over 2,000 artworks.

For this, the first-ever fashion show in the museum's history, Nicolas Ghesquière, Louis Vuitton's Artistic Director of Womenswear, stated, "The moment I saw this place, inspiration struck."

The fashion show will be streamed live on louisvuitton.com on the day of the event.
