Emi Suzuki to Appear at Opening Ceremony!

La Cittadella, a complex commercial facility in front of JR Kawasaki Station, will host "MIMOSA FESTA 2020," an "Italian Girls' Day," on March 7th (Sat) and March 8th (Sun). This year marks the 21st anniversary and will feature a talk event with Emi Suzuki, the 2020 muse, discussing "a life with flowers," as well as a spectacular balloon release where sustainable mimosa-yellow balloons, mindful of the natural environment, will be set free into the sky. The event offers content to be enjoyed all day long.

Additionally, this year, as in previous years, Jun Nagai and the "Flower Gifting Boys" will present mini mimosa bouquets to 4,000 women in Kawasaki, including at La Cittadella and neighboring commercial facilities Azalea and Atre Kawasaki.

March 8th is globally recognized as "International Women's Day," a commemoration of women's liberation, and in Italy, it is known as "Mimosa Day" (FESTA DELLA DONNA). It is a custom to give the beautiful yellow mimosa flower, which heralds the arrival of spring and vividly colors Italian streets, to those you care about or important women, as a gesture of respect, gratitude, and love from men. La Cittadella, a complex facility in Kawasaki with an "Italian" concept, has been holding events to commemorate "Mimosa Day" for over 10 years.

This year, the 21st anniversary, Emi Suzuki has been chosen as the muse for MIMOSA FESTA 2020. She will appear at the opening ceremony on the first day, March 7th (Sat), for a talk event themed "A Life with Flowers." Following this, she will join participants in a balloon release, sending sustainable yellow mimosa balloons into the sky to wish for the success and happiness of women.

During the event period, La Cittadella's Italian streetscape will be enhanced with various flower shops, a diverse market appealing to women, and Kawasaki's first Umbrella Street in the Maggiore Alley, leading to a CUTE & POP world. Illuminations will also be available starting March 1st (Sun).

■Mini Mimosa Bouquets Presented to 4,000 Women by "Flower Gifting Boys"!

Furthermore, at La Cittadella and neighboring commercial facilities Azalea and Atre Kawasaki, "Flower Gifting Boys" will present mini mimosa bouquets to 4,000 women visitors. A photo contest, which was very popular last year, will also be held. The grand prize winner will receive a trip to Italy, and the Muse Award winner will receive a mimosa bouquet signed by Emi Suzuki. Winners will be notified via direct message on Instagram or Twitter around late March.

The popular market will return this year with over 40 participating shops, an expanded offering. There will be colorful art workshops by comedian Miyamoto of Skachan, who is creating a quiet buzz as a mole fortune teller, and artist AO, as well as yoga classes by popular yoga instructors. The special stage will feature musical and balloon performances by six artists.

Throughout the event, talk shows will be held with guests active in various fields. This year, a talk show is planned with Nathalie Rapoleige, the female winemaker for the champagne brand Joseph Perrier, and Arisa Evans, MIMOSA FESTA Director and Ethical Coordinator, focusing on what "sustainability" means and practical tips for daily life.

This event offers the joy of choosing from a wide array of market stalls in a romantic, flower-filled setting, and provides an opportunity for men to become "Flower Gifting Boys" who express gratitude to their loved ones. With a photogenic and movie-genic venue unified in vivid mimosa yellow, it's an event enjoyable for all ages. 【Lost Flower Installation presented by FRaU】
In the ethical booth area, the first of 2020, a lost flower installation presented by Kodansha's FRaU (*) will be featured! FRaU (meaning wife in German), which garnered significant attention as the first Japanese women's magazine to fully commit to SDGs and has received numerous awards, presents a special lost flower installation themed around the Earth. This is not just an exhibition; it's a participatory art piece that visitors can contribute to. To participate, receive a lost flower from a vendor in the ethical area and bring it to the FRaU booth to enter.
*Lost flowers: Knowing that approximately 30% to 50% of flowers at florists are discarded, Haruka Kawashima of "fun fun flower" started an activity to "breathe new life into flowers" with the desire to "cherish the life of flowers."
