Tokyo Rainbow Pride 2018 drew a record-breaking 150,000 attendees, with 7,000 participants in a grand procession.
Tokyo Rainbow Pride 2018, Japan's largest LGBT event, held from April 28 to May 6, concluded with great success.
The Pride Festival on the 5th and 6th, the main event of TRP2018 held at Yoyogi Park Event Square, saw a total of 140,000 visitors over two days, setting a new record for attendance since the event began annually in 2012.
The parade participants, marching through Shibuya with rainbow flags, also reached a record high of 7,000 people.
Additionally, the 70 events held during Pride Week were also highly successful, attracting approximately 5,000 visitors in total. Combined, the event drew a total attendance of 152,000.
Following the parade on the 6th, a special live performance by Ayumi Hamasaki was held on the outdoor stage starting after 5 PM.
She sang all seven songs, including encores, to a packed, cheering crowd, marking the end of the two-day Pride Festival.
