Audio streaming app Spoon conducts user survey during the 'May sickness' period when spirits tend to fall.
Spoon Radio Japan, the company behind the audio streaming app Spoon, conducted a survey among 7,771 Spoon users regarding their "communication concerns and Spoon usage" just before the 'May sickness' period. The survey was conducted from February 26 to March 3, 2024.
Survey Background
After April, a month of significant environmental changes including shifts in daily rhythms and the formation of new relationships at school or work, comes the first major holiday period: Golden Week.
As this holiday draws to a close, an increasing number of people find themselves struggling with 'May sickness,' characterized by feelings of listlessness, anxiety, and restlessness.
Common coping strategies for 'May sickness' include talking about worries with family and friends, listening to music or reading, ensuring quality sleep, maintaining a balanced diet, and engaging in physical activity.
Spoon, an audio communication platform that does not require users to show their faces, surveyed 7,771 users on "communication concerns and Spoon usage" in anticipation of the period when 'May sickness' is prevalent.
The survey revealed that approximately half of the respondents, 47%, reported having current concerns. Furthermore, it was found that 52% of all respondents use social media to discuss their worries.
