teamLab: Continuous Light, Continuous Flow, in GINZA SIX Garden, a digital art installation by teamLab, is on limited-time exhibition on the GINZA SIX rooftop.
From August 1st to September 2nd, 2018, the GINZA SIX Garden, the rooftop garden of GINZA SIX, will host "Resonating Trees in GINZA SIX GARDEN," a digital artwork by teamLab.
Under the theme of "Digitized Nature," teamLab, a collective that transforms nature into art through non-material digital art, has created a digital art space on the rooftop garden, approximately 56 meters above ground, where light and sound change in response to people's presence.
This work is being shown in Tokyo for the first time and can be enjoyed against the backdrop of the Ginza nightscape.
Resonating Trees in GINZA SIX GARDEN
The trees in the rooftop garden are illuminated, shining brightly. The light from each tree repeatedly brightens and dims, as if breathing slowly.
When visitors pass by, the light of the trees changes color, emitting a unique tone, which then propagates to the adjacent trees.
This light then propagates to the next tree, emitting its own tone, continuing in succession.
When the light surges towards you, it signifies someone's presence, allowing people to become aware of others in the same space.
