Approximately 34,000 people participated in the "Shibuya Bon Dance Festival", attended by celebrities including Kenta Kiritani.
On Saturday, August 5th, the area west of the Shibuya Scramble Crossing, including Bunkamura Dori and Dogenzaka (around the SHIBUYA109 building), was transformed.
The "Shibuya Bon Dance Festival" was held for the first time, attracting approximately 34,000 participants.
On the stage presented by The Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, Terry Ito appeared as the host.
He introduced "Tokyo Gorin Ondo - 2020 -," a remake of the 1964 hit "Tokyo Gorin Ondo" sung by Haruo Minami.
Furthermore, on the stage hosted by KDDI Corporation, Kenta Kiritani, who plays Urashima Taro in au's "Santaro" series, made a surprise appearance.
Kiritani, in his "Ura-chan" persona, performed "Santaro Ondo" and "Umi no Koe," energizing the crowd.
This initiative, which turned the streets of Shibuya into a bon dance venue, became a hot topic on social media.
Expectations are already high for its second iteration next year.
