Donq introduces "Shimanto River Aosa Nori," a meal bread made with Aosa Nori from Kochi Prefecture, for a limited time.
Founded in 1905, Donq, a long-established bakery born in Kobe, has consistently adhered to the scratch method, where artisans prepare dough from raw ingredients and bake it. This year, they are once again holding "Gochiso Japan ~In Search of Delicious Ingredients from the Japanese Archipelago~."
This initiative, which began in August 2016, aims to unearth special products, noteworthy ingredients, and appealing agricultural produce hidden across Japan. It offers bread that conveys the value of these ingredients, sometimes incorporating the stories and aspirations of their producers, such as farmers and dairy farmers.
The first offering in this project is "Shimanto River Aosa Nori," a meal bread made with aosa nori seaweed from Kochi Prefecture.
The aosa nori used is cultivated in the clear waters of the Shimanto River in Kochi Prefecture, nurtured by its pristine flow.
By combining this river-grown aosa nori with mozzarella cheese and baking it to a fragrant finish, the result is a dish that highlights the ingredient's natural umami.
The product will be available from Thursday, August 16, 2018, to Thursday, September 6, 2018, at Donq's flagship brand and six other brands, totaling 145 stores nationwide.
