Two New Side Dishes! A Spicy Menu Expansion

UMAMI BURGER® began in 2009 with a single location in Los Angeles, California, and has since expanded globally, including to Japan. With a concept of "casual fine dining," it's a burger restaurant where adults can relax, enjoying wine and cocktails alongside their burgers and an extensive selection of side dishes.

The restaurant first arrived in Japan in March 2017 with the opening of the Aoyama store, subsequently increasing its number of locations nationwide and gaining attention on numerous television information programs. While the visually appealing presentation immediately excites, the true buzz was generated by the burger's profound flavor, a first in burger history.

Its name, "UMAMI," is derived from the Japanese word for the fifth taste, "umami." Founder Adam Fleischman named it UMAMI BURGER® because he established a cooking method that maximizes umami, creating burgers that embody this principle.

By using ingredients rich in umami—such as beef, cheese, tomatoes, and mushrooms—and further enhancing their umami through cooking techniques like roasting and steaming, these burgers are guaranteed to be "absolutely delicious."

First, let's applaud the Japanese debut of four "Smash Burger" varieties: "California," "Bacon Ranch," "Black Garlic," and "Umami Noko."

Unlike traditional round beef patties, "Smash Burgers" are made by pressing generous portions of meat onto a hot griddle to create a crispy texture. This technique enhances the savory aroma and texture, allowing for a more intense meat flavor, making it a trending burger in the US.

For example, the "California" burger, a creation that fulfills the long-standing request for an "avocado burger" particularly from female customers, is a confident offering composed of sliced avocado, tomato, onion, lettuce, American cheese, and double smash patties.

The popular "Truffle Burger," a favorite since its Japanese debut in 2017, has also been renewed. The "New Truffle" retains its signature truffle aroma with truffle aioli and truffle cheese, but is now even more delicious with the addition of sautéed king oyster mushrooms and onion pickles.

Catering to the global trend towards veganism, "The Earth" joins the highly acclaimed vegan series. It uses a vegan smash patty to offer that characteristic smash burger experience (※Available only at Aoyama and Minatomirai stores).

Additionally, the spicy "Crispy Hot Chicken," along with "Crispy Chicken" and "Chicken Sandwich," are available at select locations to combat the summer heat. The side menu now includes "California Waffle Fries" and "Togarashi Waffle Fries," further expanding the culinary options.
