Which Buddha Statue Will Draw You In?

Central Japan Railway Company (JR Central) launched the "Let's Go, Kyoto." campaign on Saturday, May 20, 2023, with the theme "Which Buddha statue will draw you in?" Using the statue of Saint Kuya at Rokuharamitsu-ji Temple as an entry point, the campaign aims to convey the charm of various Buddha statues and portrait sculptures in Kyoto.

We will also be rolling out various promotions to encourage visitors to find their favorite Buddha statues and develop an interest in Kyoto's history and culture through them.

Special Experiences to Immerse Yourself in Kyoto's World of Buddha Statues ~Including Popular Celebrity Buddha Audio Guides, Buddha Sculpture Workshops, and Private Nighttime Visits to Sanjusangen-do~

At Rokuharamitsu-ji Temple, we offer a special plan that includes a Dharma talk by the head priest and the chance to receive Ofukucha (imperial tea). Additionally, Sanjusangen-do (Rengeoin) will host exclusive private nighttime visits. At Rokuharamitsu-ji Temple, To-ji Temple, and Sanjusangen-do, popular celebrities have lent their voices to audio guides for the Buddha statues, allowing visitors to fully appreciate the world of these sculptures with the cast's wonderful narration.
Furthermore, limited-time special plans are available in conjunction with the campaign, such as a Shakubutsu (tracing Buddha images) experience based on illustrations by an artist, and a Buddha sculpture workshop. Through this campaign, visitors can discover new facets of Kyoto's charm, sparked by its Buddha statues.
