A coin commemorating the 70th anniversary of the debut of Donald Duck's rich uncle, "Scrooge McDuck," has been released by the Monnaie de Paris (Paris Mint).
Scrooge McDuck, who first appeared in "Mickey's Christmas Carol," has since featured in numerous Disney productions.
He is Donald Duck's uncle and is affectionately called "Uncle Scrooge" by Huey, Dewey, and Louie.
The name "Scrooge" is inspired by Ebenezer Scrooge, the protagonist of Charles Dickens's short story "A Christmas Carol."
Initially a supporting character, Scrooge quickly became a pivotal figure in Duckburg, the fictional city featured in Disney works.
He is renowned for his immense wealth, most of which is stored in a colossal money bin.
Among his treasures, he particularly cherishes a 10-cent coin, known as the "Coin of Fortune."
The newly released coin collection comprises five distinct types.
The collection includes a 500 Euro gold coin and a 50 Euro color silver coin featuring Scrooge McDuck, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, and Donald's nephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie. Additionally, there is a 50 Euro gold coin depicting Scrooge McDuck, and a 200 Euro gold coin and a 10 Euro color silver coin with Donald Duck set against a backdrop of Scrooge McDuck's silhouette and the lucky 10-cent coin.
All gold coins are minted with a purity of 99.9% or higher. Notably, the 500 Euro gold coin is a rare item, with only 99 pieces issued.
