Shiseido Art House, a museum in Kakegawa City, Shizuoka Prefecture, established in 1978, will reopen on Tuesday, July 4th, following a period of temporary closure for facility upgrades.

The first exhibition following the reopening will be "Craftsmanship for Us 2017," the final installment of the "Craftsmanship for Us" series, which began in 2015.

Founded in 1872 as Japan's first Western-style pharmacy, Shiseido has introduced a diverse range of cultural offerings, from its pioneering Western restaurant, Shiseido Parlour, to the Shiseido Gallery, which boasts the longest history as an art gallery, all infused with its unique aesthetic sensibility.

From its products to the smallest pamphlet, Shiseido's passion for creating beautiful and dignified objects continues to bring radiance to the daily lives of people in Japan.

The exhibition "Craftsmanship for Us" is an endeavor to bring "crafts," which have become distant from our daily lives and are treated as mere art objects, back into our homes.

This exhibition will feature an experimental display, primarily showcasing new works by five artists, combined with pieces from the previous two "Craftsmanship for Us" exhibitions and the Art House's collection.

It introduces crafts that enrich our daily lives with beauty and joy, and that deserve to be cherished and passed down through generations, while also suggesting ways to use and enjoy them in everyday life.
