From October 12 (Thursday) to 22 (Sunday), the "8th Shibuya Fashion Week" is being held, an event that conveys the charm of Shibuya, a city where one can embody their personal style through fashion.
Shibuya Fashion Week was first held in March 2014, as part of the "International Cultural Tourism City Shibuya" initiative to establish Shibuya as a global tourism hub.
Major commercial facilities, which have previously competed with each other, have come together for the first time to promote unique initiatives under the theme "MADE IN SHIBUYA," leveraging the distinct characteristics of each venue.
The main event, "SHIBUYA RUNWAY," features fashion shows set against the backdrop of Shibuya's streets.
It has truly grown into an event that represents Shibuya as a city of fashion.
Broadly Welcoming Students & Young Designers Aiming for Breakthroughs in Fashion, Offering Experiential Opportunities
In its eighth iteration, the event further strengthens its established role as a "launchpad for young designers." In collaboration with "Tokyo New Designer Fashion Grand Prix," "READY TO FASHION," which fosters emerging talent in fashion and creative industries, the "Japan Artists Union," and "Nippon Photography Institute," students and young designers/artists are widely welcomed to Shibuya Fashion Week.
Participants will engage in secretariat activities during the event and take part in the "SHIBUYA RUNWAY" street fashion show on October 22 (Sunday), which will take place on Bunkamura Dori with traffic control as part of the Shibuya Music Festival, alongside industry professionals.
Through the planning and operation of this campaign, we provide a platform to nurture the next generation of leaders across a wide range of fields.
Furthermore, the ambassador for this eighth event is Shishido Kavka, active in diverse fields as a musician and actress.
At the "SHIBUYA RUNWAY" on October 22 (Sunday), she will not only walk the street runway herself but also present a musical performance.
The "Tokyo New Designer Fashion Grand Prix" will showcase its young designers' first runway shows, and shop staff from Shibuya area businesses, including the major commercial facilities participating in the campaign, will also walk the runway, reflecting Shibuya's "now" through various perspectives.
